Re: Maybe Someone On Pontiac Bonneville Club can Help Me
That supercharger is called the Generation 5 M90, and plenty of people have put it on their Series II engines. The issue is that you don't have a supercharger simply to replace what you have now. You have two ways of going about this:
------------------------ Option 1 ------------------------
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... php?id=382
You will need the coil pack and FPR. Select also a new PCM tune.
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... php?id=235
Choose the Gen 5 option and the SS intake as well. This lets you bolt a supercharger onto your engine and also lets you keep your fuel injector spaces.
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... php?id=259
You'll need the SS M90 version. These will work with the above lower intake manifold and its fuel injectors.
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... php?id=205
Select any pulley size, preferably 4.0-4.2" for your setup.
-----------------------------------------------------------
------------------------ Option 2 ------------------------
I don't know if you have the parts from the same car that gave you the Gen 5 M90 or if you have the ones from the Series II supercharged engine with the Gen 3 M90. The Series II 3800's parts will work, but you will have a very tough time working with the Series III goods. Assume all the parts below are from a 97-03 Series II 3800 that came supercharged from the factory.
First:
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... &catid=113
Fuel rails, injectors, throttle body, LIM (Lower Intake Manifold) heads, a harmonic balancer, and a custom tune.
You need to replace the heads so that you have fuel injector bosses. Use the L67 (supercharged Series II) injectors so that you don't hit a wall when tuning. The throttle body is necessary, but you can use a Northstar throttle body, linked below, instead of the L67 TB. An L67 LIM will bolt right up, but you need the LIM from above to bolt on your Gen 5 M90.

I think I covered it all. Someone please let me know if I missed something. 713, you're going to need to buy a new transmission in the near future if you do this top swap. There are "HD upgrade kits" available, but they include only a few parts and don't come close enough to the HD transmission that comes with supercharged cars. Although you can do a top swap with either of the two setups and run with your current transmission, you will find that with your bigger wheels your transmission will have a very tough time keeping up. In fact, your bigger wheels right now hinder your transmission's lifetime at least by a tiny bit. If you take it easy and drive slowly right now with no supercharger, you really shouldn't have any problems though. Have you upgraded your brakes to go with your larger wheels?
Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Remember to bulk up things around your engine before you go to higher performance parts, or you'll be paying for it later. Engine mounts, brakes, transmission, etc all need care for your car to go fast. Have fun!

the parts are exactly the same from a Series 2 to a Series 3 with the exception of the opening on the LIM for the Gen V. And the opeining can be made larger in 3 minutes.... He already listed that he has all the parts from a Series 2/3 minus the HB

the ONLY difference in the Non HD and the HD 65-E is the Diff, Diff housing and the passenger side axle. With the 65-e HD upgrade, you WILL have a HD trans
giving the OP options is nice, but lets get all the info straight

-- Series II/III parts --
I'm aware that the fuel rail and injectors are different. He'd probably need a return line with a Series II fuel rail setup. How does a returnless line work with an OBDII and a Series II? If it's possible, I'm cool with it. Which throttle body is going to be used? I guess one that matches the supercharger, but that would be a drive-by-wire. As for modifying the LIM, I'm not sure if he has one as it, like the TB, is not on the list.
-- non-HD/HD transmission differences --
Valve bodies are different. There really are a few more differences as I'm aware, but I agree I should look more into that. It's not me saying there are more differences - it's PRJ Performance. Regardless of my knowledge of 4T65E transmissions, I don't think I'm giving too much false information. I'd rather have people correct me than be pushy.
By the way, I remembered that neither route demands an L67 harmonic balancer! You can stick the ZZP SS M90 pulley onto any M90 and run off of the accessory belt. Even if you do a top swap with heads, the proper fuel rail and LIM etc, you can still run off the L36 HB with an SS M90 pulley.

Radomir, you're off the rocker again.
The balancers are *slightly* different between the S2 and S3 due to the different balancing between the two gens. If you stick with an S2, it's *best* to stick with S2 balancing hardware...same with S3. It's just common sense.
Besides, the supercharged balancer has the second set of grooves needed to run the 'charger. Non-SC's don't have them.

If he goes the SSM90 route, he won't need it, seeing that it runs off of one belt. He'll need a Northstar Throttle Body, and a LQ9(?) MAF sensor.

Re: Maybe Someone On Pontiac Bonneville Club can Help Me
its the LQ4 Maf.
and he wont NEED a different TB or MAF a stock L67 would be adequate, its just that the inlet size will be smaller than the inlet of the charger
also you WILL need to get a Tune, and not a boxed tune either, you will need a custom tune, good thing for you there are a ton of Texas GP members. I suggest joining www.clubgp.com or www.gpona.com so you can make some friends with people that have tuners. With out a custom tune you might as well not even attempt this swap

Re: Maybe Someone On Pontiac Bonneville Club can Help Me
Sandrock, which S2 vs S3 balancing hardware is necessary for a change from one supercharger to another?
Retaining the L36 balancer would be best given the L36 flexplate and L36 internals. Whether there's an L32 or an L67 supercharger on top with heads and a LIM doesn't change the balance of the engine. It's just common sense.

Rad, he's saying that an S2 will need an S2 balancer, and an S3 will need an S3 balancer, due to different internals. I'd go the SSM90 route. That's going to be the easiest to deal with.

Re: Maybe Someone On Pontiac Bonneville Club can Help Me
The SS M90 route is the same way as putting on the proper L67/L32 LIM and heads but still using the pulley that lets you run with one belt. If I'm reading this correctly, an S2 with an S2 balancer will go from NA to supercharged in one way or another. A lot of top-swapped GP guys change out the harmonic balancer usually during a cam install, and an L67 HB appears to balance just the same way as an L36. The L67 HB is a bit heavier with more meat on it, but you do have to switch to an L36 flexplate to run with a 245mm torque converter anyway. So there are even L67s out there using L36 flexplates without issues.
The SS M90 route is the best way to go if you do not want to change out the heads. You wouldn't have anywhere to put in your injectors if you were to go the non-SS M90 way but keep the L36 heads.

I believe the original author of this topic has gotten the info he needed. There is no need to debate Radomir's ideas and arguments any further.
