Remember folks, the whole idea with this stuff is that it's cheaper and easier than real carbon fiber. You start clearing over it, hydroprinting, that kind of stuff, it's not a lot easier than making a mold and doing an actual carbon fiber part. An overlay is even easier. And it's not as expensive as you might think.

I think I might do this to the spokes on my steering wheel in the GP, they are looking pretty worn out.

I would think you could paint the switch and then wrap it, no? Or would the heat from doing the wrap bubble the paint up? I guess I don't know how hot you have to get it...

I appreciate the look of this and the dedication it takes to get it applied in a good looking manner.

So I'm new to this forum and my gxp. After looking on here I realized that the only carbon fiber mine came with is the steering wheel and trim around the handles, none on the vents or back vent. Did some come this way or a previous owner take em off? Anyhow I found this on ebay and was wondering what y'all think.
Ebay item # 261082157484 sorry don't know how to link it

All GXPs had the carbon fiber for the door handle bezels, steering wheel and all the vents including the rear vent. They also had silver looking door handles and an aluminum plate on top of the shifter handle. If yours is missing any of that then it was removed at some point by a previous owner.

As for that ebay kit, I would stay away from it. Not saying that the vinyl wrapping I am doing is 100% perfect, but it would certainly fit better then that kit that leaves open spots everywhere. I am still learning with this vinyl but even knowing that I wouldn't touch a kit like that. If you really want the GXP carbon fiber stuff, you have to search craigslist or sometimes they pop up on here or ebay. Basically nothing you find aftermarket will be a good match for the stock GXP stuff so you either have to have it all or none, can't mix and match.

This turned out awesome! Usually I hate carbon fiber because it was always so glossy and flashy, didn't fit the rest of the interior at all IMO. I love this, do you have a spare set or inserts? You should wrap them and I'll swap and send you my unwrapped ones back haha ;)

Somebody has a set on the way :beerchug: Just keep me up to date with how they work for you!

I just ordered some more black carbon fiber as well as some brushed black metallic and some 3M Primer 94 that should help quite a bit with the issues of any peeling that may show up down the road. That should be here next week, then some testing, may send out a set or two at a lower price if anyone is interested in some testing, PM me :)

Its gonna be like Christmas in April! I will get them in next weekend and be sure to snap a pic or 2. If all goes well after a month I will be ordering the rest of the door handles and window switches.

Hmm, I know I was talking to a guy a few years ago who had a GXP that had been broken into and had all the CF parts stolen, except the steering wheel, IIRC. Probably more common than one thinks....

Tempting Andrew...very tempting. How much will you knock off if I pick up and give you my old handles?

Got these in the mail from Ryan and put them in Sunday, they look great! They were a PITA just as I expected but I was done within 20mins and managed not to break anything. The more I look at them the more I love them. They overlay is of great quality and they look factory. Highly recommend these to anyone looking to give their interior that little something extra! Pics aren’t the best and don’t do it justice but here they are…
