The new engine has not arrived yet, but I was bored today, so I got a head start.

While I'm in here, I'll replace the leaking power steering line. Otherwise, everything else was dry. No leaks anywhere else.


Stripped it down to the block. Turned the engine over, and felt all the rods by hand. The last one I grabbed was obviously the culprit. It wiggled quite a bit. Cylinder #6




Here are all the "leftovers".


All bolts carefully bagged and labeled


Now I just have to wait for my L32 to arrive.

Placed an order with RockAuto... going a little above and beyond on this one since its going to a family member.

Yea I know what you mean, they good prices make up for the extra shipping. Rockauto is definitely a good source for parts.

Got one of the packages today, with the majority of the parts in it. Opened it up to find destruction. Everytime I order from RockAuto they have horrible packing skills. This shipment had ZERO packing material inside the box. The shipment included a set of HEAVY shocks, and a HEAVY fan clutch. Placed in between those were all the small gaskets: oil filter adapter, throttle body gasket, and exhaust flange gasket. All three of them were folded in half. RockAuto just received a call from me. Now I have to go buy those locally. They refunded me for the parts, but its only $8. You'd think that a company as successful as them would be a little better in the packing deparment.

Depends a lot on the warehouse... For the most part I have had good luck... Most of the items I get are packed with the air bladders and or packing peanuts...

The engine finally showed up today! I gave it a quick rinse at the car wash to get the dust off. This thing is immaculate!






But it gets better. This is what it looked like when I took the SC/LIM off. I've never seen anything so clean!

Swapped over the exhaust manifolds, showing the difference in outlet offset.


Putting the new Felpro metal LIM gaskets in place.


The new L67/L32. I used the black valve covers because I think they look cooler.






Here is the L32 stuff that I didn't use, and will be sold.

Ya he will. Another fun fact: I ordered those new rear shocks from RockAuto without even looking under the car. I figured it would be some preventative maintenance. Well I just looked under there now, it already had brand new shocks installed!

No, but considering it only has 21k on it, it basically is a brand new engine. Just getting broken in.

I can't say the thought didn't cross my mind... but there is nothing wrong with my engine. If I ever do end up needing one, I know what I'm getting.

Napa screwed up and didn't get my plug wires in. UGH! I ended up putting the 22k mile OEM wires back on. I'm sure they will be fine for a long time to come.

Engine is in and runs like a dream!


Couple of undercar shots. The subframe is shiny because of the power steering fluid that had been leaking. I wiped it all down.



All back together.


Car is basically done. I'm heading out for the weekend, but when I get back, I'll probably just do a quick vacuum (maybe pull the seats), and then its ready for delivery.

You planning on cleaning out the embedded brake dust in the wheels?
