OK, I agree. But this one was $39, the FWI one is $179. Any ideas how to extend the current installation?

You want the coldest air possible because cold air is denser than hot air. it means it has more O2 per square inch than hot air. So more 02/square inch means that the PCM will dump MORE fuel to compensate for the leaner mixture, which in turn means more power.adinini wrote:When the car is in motion, how is hot air going to flow forward? I think your right about it sucking in hot hair but it's only happening when your stopped? The forward progress of the car and the fan pushing air back would keep hot air from entering the filter...No/Yes?lewis26 wrote:Getting a cold air intake that sucks up warm engine air is probably worse then the stock airbox. To make a cold air intake effective, it has to actually intake cold air. That is the best part about the intense FWI, that it sucks cold outside air from the fender.
The one you have posted will be sucking hot air from around the engine, and in my own opinion would be a complete waste of money.
Though, I would actually like to extend my intake a little to make sure I'm not getting any hot air.
Yup, but its gonna be awkward looking and a pretty large box...nicklikesmilk wrote:couldn't the L36 HAI in the picture be remedied by a heat shield that insulates the filter from the engine heat?
i know some people on here have many different heat shields over similar looking intakes.
