Any plans to swap in your HU out of your other truck, with the backup cam and stuff?
Bye Bye:

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport 5.9L 4x4 144k
Nope, I'm leaving it all in there when I sell it. It was a lot of work to run that wire, and I don't feel like messing with it. If I get another one, I'll probably get a wireless camera and I'll get a higher quality HU. I know that Pyle is bottom of the line, but I liked the Pyle unit I had many years ago in my Voyager. The hardware is fine, but the software sucks. The interface looks like it was designed by someone taking Photoshop 101.
For right now, I'm enjoying the fact that I have working steering wheel buttons and nice big buttons that you can press with winter gloves on.

Hmmm... 2002... Flood damage? It wasn't originally from Buffalo was it? I think that was when the Chysler dealership there got flooded.
Nice truck!

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport 5.9L 4x4 144k
I tried Googling it, I couldn't find much. I just remember it due to the fact my grandpa was delivering cars for Morries at the time in Buffalo and he was joking about how many cars Hecker was going to have to total out at the time due to being flooded in the lot (he despised Hecker).

I would love to find some pics of the lot back then, to see how bad it really was.... and just maybe see a pic of my truck new on the lot.

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport 5.9L 4x4 144k
Just a word of caution to you. My dad has an '02 Dodge Ram 1500, and there is a terrible design with the rear fender wells. Water and other liquids sit and start to rust out the fender, and soon you start to see rust spots along the whole well. For some reason, when they bent the hem it left a channelled groove along the whole well that is basically a trough for water, salt, debris, etc. After my dad ground all the rust off and bondo'd the thing back to normal, he took i think either siliconized acrylic caulk or just 100% siliconized caulk to fill in that groove. Then he took spray on bed liner and coated the whole wheel well numerous times to hopefully seal it better. So far its working out quite good, and its been a few years now. I can post pictures of what it looked like before he redid it.

If you want better gas mileage, install a K&N cold air intake. My dad gained an average 2 mpgs more highway and city.

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport 5.9L 4x4 144k
Good to see another Bonneville nut turn partial mopar. The 360 magnum is great engine that little goes wrong with. I have two Dakotas that sport them, one original, one transplant. Electrical is a different story, however.
Bonneville is a great all round car and I don't ever see myself being without atleast a couple. My true first love is old school mopar horsepower and always will be. I've been collecting since the late 80's and have all kinds of toys. No replacement for displacement!!!

Looking good! What'd ya pay for the topper?
I bet the toolbox is real fun to get at, especially if you have something else in the bed...

Paid $400 for the topper. More than I wanted to spend, but its a really spendy topper new.
Toolbox isn't too bad. It serves its purpose well.

when do you think you'll get the rust taken care of?
And how is it in terms of performance compared to the Silverado

I'm not sure on the rust. Depends on the estimate. If its "cheap", I'll do it right away. If its not so cheap, I'll probably let it ride for a while.
Performance is very similiar to the Silverado.

My neighbor has the almost exact same truck, Black, Hemi, nice topper, but without the quad cab, just a normal extended cab with mini doors.

The bodystyle with the Hemi was only had in std cab or Quad cab, *edit, and technically Mega Cab. If he's got mini doors it's the old bodystyle, and technically still a Quad cab...BonneMe wrote:My neighbor has the almost exact same truck, Black, Hemi, nice topper, but without the quad cab, just a normal extended cab with mini doors.

Looks like a real nice truck Andrew!
It's a possibility with the mileage you've got on there already that it won't be a problem for you, but 2001-2002 especially had a LOT of concentrated problems with the engine and transmission.
My dad bought a new 2001 Ram in 2000, and before the end of its life in 2004 (which was when even the extended warranty was exhausted by claims) at 80k, it had already been through 4 transmission rebuilds and was on its second engine.
He DID use it as a truck, and not an oversized car like you see so many truck owners do, but oh well.
2003+ was much better for reliability for the V8s. The 3.7 V6 is an extreme nightmare though.
Probably not a huge problem for you, being that you're extremely resourceful when it comes to replacing failed drivetrain components....but just my 0.02
