Aaah ok! I did not know all of that. Especially the wheels...didn't realize they were specific in '01 as well!

Regardless, I hate the '00 center caps. Will, you could donate yours to me if you like :)

Seriously!?!?
Lmao...I don't much care for the 00 centers, especially on my car, I tried the one's Eric has on his and didn't like it. Nice try though... :bhuh:
And here''s Ed to hate on the 01 centers.
(He's jealous of the big nuts :poke: )

Haha...

Well I suppose that will be my next appearance change. '01 center caps. Since I'd like to go on vacation next summer, new wheels are out of the question. Especially since my Lesabre's L67 swap put a nice hole in my wallet.

The search begins!

Getting back to the headlights and tail lights real quick, what's everyone's opinion on giving the light bulbs a light shade of silver to cover the amber color ones I had to put in there? Stupid or not?

Good luck on your search, I only ever see 00's.
I wouldn't do anything to the bulb I don't think... Law here is it has to flash orange. I don't want any *shoot* so, mine DO flash orange, they're just black when not lit. :) IDK what you could use that would be transparent and yet cover up some of the orange. :dontknow:

You can fog the bulbs with a thin coating of silver paint and they'll still blink orange.

Ok...got the bulbs done the other day. Turns out, what might have been an odd idea at first turned out very effective.

Got out all my airbrushing stuff, stuck the bulbs in cardboard to hold them still, and had at it.
Image

It's been a while since I've used the airbrush, so I mixed too much reducer into the paint, therefore taking about 15 coats to cover. This is halfway through.

Done, and drying.

Looks pretty good in there! In person, you can't really see the bulbs unless you look for them.

There's no issues whatsoever with the bulbs lighting up orange. It's even a more pleasing orange now, I'd say. I don't have any pictures of that, but everything still lights up well. Even with the front lights.

That's all for now. I'm trying to get the car ready for winter. Lubing up the seals, and I stuck heavy rubber floor mats in and took out my carpet mats until Spring.

I like the silver bulbs! I've actually grown accustomed to mine being orange though, it doesn't bother me much anymore... :btruestory:

Probably should've mentioned this before you put it all back together, but:

http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showth ... 3157-Bulbs

Works great on the rear turn signals and reverse lights on these cars. Gives you a little extra light and makes use of the extra filament which otherwise goes to waste.

Hmm...I can't say I ever noticed that about those lights. I suppose that's a definite possibility! Maybe it's just me, but I found the process as written by the author to be a little hard to follow. I'll have to read through it again...

EDIT: Read it again, got it. Must have had a brain fart. I'm going to do this to my reverse lights.

They look great. :beerchug:

If you don't mind, can you eventually get some pictures of them lit up?

Got a few pics of the 'silver' turn signal bulbs lit up.

Hard to get a good picture of them during the day, but it looks good and legal to me!

Thanks man! I found it to be a decent solution to the famed Silverstar bulbs.

Well, everyone, in semi-unrelated news, I've decided on a small list of 'mods' for the SSEi in the Spring. Once my Lesabre T-type's L67 is finished, that is ;) .

I already have AL 605 spark plugs, in there, and of course, a 180* thermostat. The Intense FWI was installed at the same time, and though I've got the sound I want, I'm kinda looking for a little more kick.

I have a hub for an MPS on the way, so I'd like to drop to a 3.6" pulley, and no more. Before that, I would like to get a 2.5" downpipe, I would assume from ZZPerformance. I may do a small amount of porting/shaping to the LIM, depending on how I feel. Other than that, cosmetic stuff - wrinkle paint, and cleaning.

What does everyone think? Reasonable? Again, not looking for huge gains, just a noticeable amount over the stock 240 HP. I've never seen any knock, but I don't drive the car hard whatsoever. Mostly passing on the highway or similar situation.

If I should repost this in another category, mods please notify me or migrate it!

Thanks!

You might wanna add a PLog to that list with your downpipe. Although since you have an L67, you'd want a 3 inch downpipe. ZZP is where you can get those.

P.S. You should probably also get a scan gauge to be able to read if you have any KR.
