The Grinding Grizz 94 SSEi problem remains even after replacing all the mounts!
It still sounds like it's coming from the right passenger side. I keep getting these visions of the differential pin scoring the inside of the housing until it finally breaks away.
The sound is only made if accelerating hard from a stop and goes away as soon as the car gets up to about 20 mph or let up on gas pedal.
My solution is not to accelerate hard from a stop but......

Have you checked out the general shape and alignment of the engine cradle?

Hmm, good point John.
What else is there that flexes under torque?
I will give it a check this weekend, when I attempt to solder the EGR tube.
This sure is a comfortable car to drive. I have it this week for work while the Jeep is getting repaired. It uses just as much fuel as the Jeep.
It's actually running really well now with no codes or KR, other than this noise. Crank the stereo and you can't hear it.

Try having someone (you trust) powerbrake the car with the hood popped. You might be able to see what is making the sound, or at least find out where it is coming from when the engine is in a heavy torque situation. I did this once to find out my engine was rocking back far enough for a pulley to make contact with the torque axis mount.
Be very careful, apply the parking brake and chock the wheels just incase.

The new TA mount made the big grinding noise disappear but now there is still a slightly quieter similar noise that replaced it. Same circumstances that make it happen though.
I inspected the TA mount and it is perfect and not contacting metal on metal like the old one did.

My old 95 SLE SC did this same thing. Had all new motor and trans mounts and made no difference. Even had the trans rebuilt twice (for failure) and it still did it.
