Impressions: It raised the rideheight by about 1" the entire way around. BUT the car is on RAILS....*dang* when you turn the wheel the car turns, there is much less body roll. There is no dipping down on stops/starts. Its even more impressive because the car is a little lighter than a GXP

Perhaps GXP drop springs will be next to take care of the 1" height increase?

Are you saying the GXP sits 1" higher than the SSEi?

that 1" is probably to compensate for the 1" larger rims? although not really needed..

The reason I ask is because when I test drove a GXP last year, it was CONSIDERABLY easier to get in and out of, and it felt much higher off the ground than my SE.

I actually thought the GXP sat lower. Perhaps the springs just need to "seat".

Nice mod and good to know for future options. :)

The rear bar is solid on both but 2 mm makes a big difference. The strength increases to the 4th power of the diameter increase.

The front bar on my SSEi is hollow. I have a solid 32 mm ready to go on...................the next time I have to drop the subframe.

I salvaged it from a 93 SSEi Taxi cab.

Did you have to do anything special to change it?

Changing yours shouldn't be too much different than changing mine. It was easy.

Just get Willwren under there with his tool box and a big hammer. (and a few beer) :beerchug:

Mileage/age between the two part sets probably has something to do with the ride height change as well. If the GXP parts only have 5k on them, while the stockers have 40k, that'll affect a few things..

I have them complete with the larger bar. As long as the bolt centers are the same, it will fit.

What was the diameter of the stock FE2 rear springs. I have a set of FE3 rears from an 02 Aurora that I was going to swap out. They are 14mm. If the FE2 is also 14mm, I won't bother.

Honestly it depends on what letters you have on your suspension tag. There are varoious spring diameters for different cars, i believe that i have the thickest FE5

i would say measure and see
