Almost totaled the bonnie

Post by 00ssei »

OMG, yesterday i was driving to the city of Pontiac,MI and i really didnt know the way good. I was going to the haunted house. Anyways, i had 3 buddies with me. So i was on the left lane waiting to find the exit so i can get out with out a problem. I was going 80mph. i wasnt paying any attention to the exit numbers. As soon i was about to pass the exit, one of my friends YELL "get out this exit". so i was scared and swirved out to the exit. This is what was scary, i didnt know the exit turns into a curve like a U shape. The sign says 25mph ramp and i was going 80. So i just slammed the brakes all the way and it wasnt letting me press it all the way because of the turn i was doing so my friend just looked down and closed his eyes and my friends in the back were literally screaming for help. The car was skirting/drifting left and right back and forth like 4 times and we almost went down a pit that was like 20ft down. But with my driving attributes, we happended to get back in position. =D>

THANK GOD i had traction control  I think if i didnt have traction control, we were gonna be gone along with the bonnie. My tires literally burned layers off when i stepped on the brakes all the way getting out the exit.

I am mad that i could've got better traction if i had used the Emergency Brakes. I just dont ever think about using it. Anyways, thank you god im still alive along with my friends and lets not forget the bonnie.

You probably would have lost control with the use of the emergency brakes. Stupid-fast understeer is stupid-fast understeer. Sheer physics is working against you there.

Stabillitrak saved your day.

Stabilitrak is the stability control system that is in our cars. That is the reason that your car is still here today. It is a mega pain when things go wrong with the system, but it can be a lifesaver :)

Traction control is just that, traction control. All it does is stop you from spinning your tires under low traction conditions.

Also, the Emergency brake is not a brake that is to be used in an emergency situation like that. Had you actually used it, it would have likely locked up the back tires and you would have been screwed. The back end would have came around so fast you wouldn't even know what hit you. The Emergency brake is a cable operated system that is there as a fail safe in case the regular hydraulic brakes fail. They are also good to use when parking on a steep hill or driveway.

I'm assuming you were either getting off at Square Lake or M-59. They're both really tight exit ramps.

Exactly right M59. I was going 80mph getting out that exit because i made a last sec decision when my friend yelled out "this exit" so i didnt even see how the ramp looked like. THANK GOD i didnt use the emegency brakes :hail: . But the way the car was swurving, i aint mad at my friends screaming for help.
The thing is, after i got back to position, i drove off normally and said to my friends.
"Dude thats was so freakin close"
Then 5 minutes later, i pull over thinking OMG was the frook just happened. I apoligized to my friends. I really didnt want to go to the haunted house Erebus anymore after that because all my scaredness was out. But for that long of a drive, i went in.

NOW THAT I KNOW THIS CAR IS FAST,SAFE,LUXURY,STYLISH,DEPENDABLE,AND  FAST  IM FOR SURE KEEPING THIS RIDE.

Erubus was worth my :booty: . I would never ever go there, not even if its free. It was so boring, that i started scaring the monsters myself

plus i had a $5 coupon so i only paid $15. Still not worth it.

Youngsters...

When you get old and crusty, you'll realize it's better to just keep driving, take the next exit and double back. Losing 15 minutes of your life > risking losing your life

Make sure you kick your buddy in the crotch next time you see him

I would have probably swerved, if I was alone. My driving dramatically improves if I have ANY passengers. Sounds like you are being a little ridiculous in your car.

If it wasnt letting you press the brake pedal all the way, it sounds like you were eating ABS for lunch  . Otherwise, you would have locked up and went straight.

Went straight into that 20 foot pit. That's why these cars have ABS, Stabilitrak, and Traction Control (even though that had nothing to do with this incident.) That's also why the gov't mandates crash test ratings and all that, so when you get in an accident, you have a lesser chance of dying. All passengers had their seatbelts on, right?

I never drive with my seatbelt unless i see a cop  . And you would think my friends in the passenger and back had seatbelts, well they didnt. Around here, seatbelts arent just us. Anyways, thanks god 1000x that nothing bad happened. i just know my tires got frooked up lol. Thanks god to the engineering of the bonnie and of course my driving skills that i made it. i was just exagerating about 20 ft pit but ask people who live in MI if they know what i mean. Than curve was very very dangerouse to enter at 80mph. Like i said i would have never entered if my friend havent yelled out "exit here". I just exited with out even looking whats ahead, thats why. I so so so so wish i had a camera in the dash to show ya how it was.

That exit ramp does have a 20 foot drop on the left side as you make the loop to go from northbound to westbound. The deceleration lane is about 200 feet long and doubles as the acceleration lane from eastbound 59 to northbound 75(Typical cloverleaf configuration. but the exit lane is angled down on the left and the pavment is NEVER in good shape). I have lived in this area and never take this ramp any faster than 30mph and you really feel the body roll of your car.

I want to go back there so time this week to see if there are any tire marks. lol.
And about the 20 ft drop, thats what made one of my friends slighty poop in his pants. The good thing is, my friends still trust me to drive!

Please drive carefully! Where is there an 80 mph speed limit?
You could have killed OTHER people besides those who were in your vehicle.
You were lucky that the road conditions were favorable.
It was just wrong..
