LIM Gasket replace I might be screwed!!

Post by Pilgar »

I replaced the lim and used Permatex Red high Temp Silicone sealent on the lim bolts. :helpsmilie: :sad5:

I have read where you shoule use blue threadlocker and where you shoule use a sealer.

I bought sealer and just made the mistake and used the Red Permatex I torqued the bolts and it has sat overnight.

Should I pull them, clean and use ????

Or is the Red fine.

James

I would leave it.
It should be fine as long as you torqued it correctly.
You should recheck the torque after a week of driving it.

When I check the torque, should I take off the UIM to check the two bolts under that?

An RTV is a good as a sealant. The red one you used should be fine. I would suggest against retorquing the bolts. Never heard of anyone having a LIM bolt ever come loose. Retorquing may break the seal of the RTV and allow some seepage of fluids.
