Idler pulley.

Post by Vas62 »

My idler plastic pulley went bad . Everything melted and bearing is completly shot. The belt is half thinner now.
I have two spare tensioners so I took one tensioner pulley to replace the idler, but I dont know what and in what sequence parts between grooved and the other plastic pulley go.There was some washers, shaft etc? There was complete mess and I was in rush to replace that pulley because i was late to one place I needed to be sharp. I did replace pulley in 20 min (it was difficult to unscrew pulley from old tensioner on the street). But I still need to know if anything goes in between those pulleys.i
Anybody has picture or diagram?
I have factory manual but there is no detailed picture of pulleys assembly.

It's the pulleys that I circled with blue pen.

Here is the image. Image

Thank you.

Not exactly sure what you're asking for here. Sorry if I seem thick.

At first it seems that you are asking how to properly mount each pulley, then I wondered if you were looking for the belt sequence.

Now it seems that you are wanting actual replacement parts.

If you'll clear this up, I'm sure someone can help.

If you need the belt sequence, here it is:

The pulley mounted by one bolt. My question is what goes on the bolt between the two pulleys ?

I do have all those pictures in my FSM. Not much help using it.
I did put a pulley that I took from spare tensioner, but there is a gap between pulleys approx. 1/4 " which I recall wasn't there before.
The car is running ok now ,no "play" in pulley etc. but I still need to put it propperly.
I didn't put new belt. The old one was shreded a little so it's thinner now and pulley alighnment seems oK with it ,but I'm worried if I put the new one with original width it may be out of allighnment.

Sorry if it's a little confusing.
The reason I requested if somebody has actual part is to avoid further wasting anybody's time trying to figure out what I want. :)

The aluminum spacer goes between. It's about 2.5" in diameter or so, and about 1/2" thick.

If you post that you still have confusion by the time I get home, I can pull those off the Zilla and lay them out in order for a pic later.

I did put that spacer in between and as I said I'm not sure that gap between two pulleys should be there and there are those black washers that also goes somewehere there.

I want to know if that spacer goes into pulley's bearing ,in other words does pulley bearing sits on bolt or on spacer.

I'm not sure if that tensioner pulley bearing inner diameter is the same as idler pulley bearing inner diameter.

The one that was shot was unrecognizable as bearing when I removed it. :???:
It would be very nice of you if you can make the pics of this assembly.

I'd really appreciate it.
