Bolt pattern question.
I know our bolt pattern is 5 X 115mm but what does the 115mm stand for? Is it from hole to hole?

Re: Bolt pattern question.
I don't remember if it's the diameter of the circle that would run through the center of all the holes or the distance from center of one hole to the center of the furthest hole.
Probably the circle, that would make most sense to me. As it would be the same on a wheel with an even number of holes.

Yes, it is the bolt circle diameter.

Re: Bolt pattern question.
5-lug bolt "patterns" are measured from the center of one lug stud to the OUTSIDE of the furthest lug stud. On our cars that distance is 115mm or 4.5275" It is not the bolt circle diameter.

Re: Bolt pattern question.
why the center to the outside? seems like it should be center to center or outside to outside.

Re: Bolt pattern question.
I didn't read that the same way. They made that special note for 5-lug just because it's an odd number. Their pic makes it look like it would be a straight line between tangent points on two holes, but that line will move with a change to the diameter of the holes or lugs. I believe it is still the circle diameter.Ultra Boost wrote:5-lug bolt "patterns" are measured from the center of one lug stud to the OUTSIDE of the furthest lug stud. Re: Bolt pattern question.
so either way a 5X120mm would have no chance of fitting. I wanted to put my basket weaves from the bimmer on the 95 haha. Not to drive just to make a spoof out of it for a picture or 2. The Bimmer stocks are similar to the 95 stocks.

I just looked at it again too and tire rack's description looks incorrect. I did find this.J Wikoff wrote:I didn't read that the same way. I know the 115mm is not the bolt circle through the centers of the lugs when measuring 5-lug.
I think the reason for the different measurement for 5-lug is because you can not measure through the center of the wheel with the odd number of holes. If you notice, the 4,6,& 8 lug measurements are center to center of the studs which would be the actualy bolt circle diameter. Those measurements are through the center of the wheel.

Re: Bolt pattern question.
If you'll notice, it's the only one that says "estimate" in the description. I feel that's just a guide on how to figure a pattern out, and since you don't have two across from each other, this will get you close.Measure from the center on one hole to the BACK of the third hole. This is the easiest way to estimate a 5-lug bolt circle

Re: Bolt pattern question.
Since we are on the topic of bolt patterns and types of wheels for our cars....
Has anyone tried mounting 114.3mm wheels from like a Ford or Jeep? I hate the wheels on my PAU, but it has nice 15" tires on it. I was thinking of finding some other OE 15" wheels for it. I like some of the wheels on the Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee, but the bolt pattern is 114.3mm (4.5") Would that .7mm difference cause problems?

Re: Bolt pattern question.
yes, it would cause problems. someone asked about putting mustang rims on one of our cars, and they were told it wouldn't work

Re: Bolt pattern question.
To measure 5 lug wheels, you measure from the outside of one to the center of the one furthest from it. For even numbered ones it is center to center.

114.3 wheels will get on the lugs, but it will not center properly over them/the hub. A Hubcentric ring will fix this.
