1970 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible - almost finished !!!

Post by NCBonneville »

Here's the "before" picture of my 70 Bonn. I'm only weeks away from painting her back to the original red.
All in all, the car was solid and only need some inside and outside TLC.
I'll post "after" pics in a few weeks. Hopefully, it'll be gorgeous...
The only issue I have is the paint code. It say 75 on the tag, which I think is Cardinal Red but I'm not sure. Does anyone know where to find the paint codes for a 1970 Bonneville?

Those things are sweet. I loved those old boats my dad used to own. He got rid of them before I was old enough to drive, but I would love to have them now.

Nice. I love big cars like that - not just Bonneville's.

What's it get? 35-40 MPG's? :)

Very cool ride. Sorry I can't help you with the paint code, but it's probably available as a mix at a auto paint dealer (most of the old paint codes are used in the formula names.) Code 75 is "Cardinal Red", which is a common Pontiac color from that era. Be suprised at how bright it will be when applied to the car...especially if you are using the current paint on the car as a reference. (You might be better served by taking a chip from some hidden spot that never saw sunlight, like under the dash, and letting the shop mix something to match it.)

What a boat! My dad used to own a red 76 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. We have a huge garage but it couldn't even fit in because it was too long! :eek2:

My dad ended up having to take out part of the wall at the front of the garage to fit it in. :laughing1:

It could be a 400 but most B-villes had the 455. Only Pontiac to get the Chevy 402 was the Parisienne in Canada. :)

I believe in 1970 the Bonnies had the 455 and the Catalina's had the 400.
