Ken..your table and mine look very similar. It may be some of the difference with the 00+'s. That's a huge change though.

It's just the difference between 97-99 VE tables and 00+. My graphs aren't as good as what HPT generates but they get the point across.

On my way to work this morning:

Looks like minor adjustments from here. I'm going to be ignoring cells that are clearly decelerating and/or low counts for the next change.

After some reasoning and strange decision making I came up with this for tonight:

I think I'll get it as good as I can sometime tomorrow at this rate.

Not necessary?

I'm trying to hit as much cells as possible, I try to get multiple accelerations in where I ease into the throttle.

I just got off the phone with Ken and I think he figured out how to remove FTC 1 from from the LTFT histogram data, which represents deceleration...and we don't want that stuff.

So, this is the formula Ken came up with that corresponds with the PID for Fuel Cell Trim:
Image

Now take a look at the following before and after pics of my LTFT cell counts when I applied this formula:

AFTER:

Also, check out my LTFT histogram before and after pics:

Cool eh? We thought so. =D>

So this the end result I'll be scanning tomorrow morning:

Tonight's scan if you wanna check it out:

Yes, I remember having to find the way to remove. Also add in the number of hits to your formula and it'll be the best formula in the universe.

At the same time I figured out that filter string, I also made my "Cell hits required" to 10.

Hm...shall I set my Required Hits to 10?

I'm going back and forth from rich, lean, rich, lean, ARG!

Keep in mind, now you're filtering decel data (FTC 1). You're numbers are going to fluctuate again because you were logging bad data before. You're at a new starting point and may take another 2 or 3 tries to get it back in the norm. Try Jerry's technique of only adding/subtracting half (1/2) of the value into your VE table, instead of the whole value. I'm on revision # 4 myself.
EDIT: I'm also requiring 10 hits per cell to help filter out bad data. Besides that, you want to be +/- 5 in your VE tune. Some say a little on the rich side is where you want to be.

It'll do that when you get the fuel trims close. To avoid it I apply a filter so that no revisions are made to cells where the LTFT is within -3 (for the MAF tune...-3 is excellent for a VE tune since the weather has such a huge impact on things), then once everything is in that range I make minor revisions to get things where I want them. Once you get really close using even half the value for revisions might be too much. I drop down to 10-20% for the final rewrites.

I see. The 1/2 value idea was something I was tossing around in my head.

Here is what my LTFT's look like when FTC1 is removed AND a requirement of at least 10 counts per cell:
Image

I think I'm going to divide all this data in half and write the changes to the VE table. I rather be slightly rich than slightly lean.

There is a nice feature in HPT that allows you to adjust by 50%. Once you get the VE hit table you want to apply, copy then go to the editor and adjust by 50% to get half of the change.

Hm...kinda lost on that one Bill. I see a % sign in the VCM Editor, but it wants a single value from what I can tell.

I think I'll just make an Excel file that divides by 1/2 and then adds it to my original table.

Sorry..it's a bit confusing.

Take the VE long term trim table, highlight the upper left corner (whole table highlights) and right click copy. Open your VE table in the editor, highlight the upper left corner to highlight entire table and I believe the command is part of the right click drop down to apply 50% of change.

I'll go check on HPT

Ok, it's basically as I remember. Here's the HPT help link on it with live demo. The feature is shown about 1/3 of the way into the demo. It's a right click and mutiply by %

Ah I see, oh well I'll try that next time. For now I did it through an Excel formula.

I divided all changes from my LTFT histogram by 2, added to the VE table, and smoothed the entire table to get this sexy looking graph:
Image

Not bad, I think I'm getting there.

Little experimentation as I near a good VE table...

I usually add my changes and smooth the entire VE graph, but today I tried smoothing "chucks" of changed data, saved it, then used that and smoothed THAT graph, and saved it as another file. So what I have are 3 different tables I can try:

1.) Made adjustments and smoothed entire graph:
Image

2.) Made adjustments and smoothed around chucks of adjusted cells:
Image

3.) Used the graph from #2 and then smoothed the entire graph:
Image

Am I wasting time and should I just continue smoothing the entire graph or can this yield better results?

I'd leave the good sections alone, but I'm a newbie to tuning as well. Are you planning on using Eddie's Table Modifier for your MAF calibration? What are your most recent LTFTs ? It only took me 4 or 5 tries to nail down the VE table.
