1995 Silhouette trans problems

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

1995 Silhouette trans problems

Post by L67Silhouette »

I replaced the VSS in my 1995 L27/4T60-E Silhouette because the speedo was bouncing around and I didn't have third or fourth gears. It worked fine when I test drove it that night. I don't drive the van very much, it's basically used for taking my wife to the dr. because the Cutlass won't hold a wheelchair. Now I only have first, the speedo will move to about 20 MPH then die leaving me in first gear.

Is my trans screwed or is there something I am overlooking?

Another thing is that it takes a couple of seconds to go in to gear when I drive it after it's sat for a week.

Thats a little confusing to me...

Usually if it was imp home it would be second or 3rd gear... I am not sure what to tell you...

I will assume the Manual functions work? Reverse, Manual 1.... If you were to shift from manual 1 to manual 2 will it shift? And then to 3rd does it shift?

On the my van I had manual 1, but it would not shift on its own... I had to shift it... If it was really cold out it would shift for a few minutes till the trans temps came up a hair and then it was done shifting...

Not sure what to think at this point..
