I have a 1987 Pontiac Bonneville, and I want to keep it going as long as I can. Great highway car, great car all around.
Lately she's been stalling while I'm out driving, but not while idling in park.
When I give it gas in park it does not stall.
When I turn on the ignition switch I hear the fuel pump activate, but not always. Sometimes it's silent.
Idle sometimes feels uneven and bumpy, and then it suddenly will "click" into running smoothly.
Fuel squirts out of the fuel gauge port on the top of the fuel pipe, so fuel is getting to the injectors.
I was thinking it's the ECM, but just wanted to pass this along to those who know better than I.
What else do you think I should check?
Thanks very much for any advice, thoughts you might have.
