The LS route is a well traveled road but nothing else makes as much sense. The 3rd pedal probably isn't as common I would imagine.

very interesting car project you have been working on over the years and that new power plant will be nice! are you going to retro fit the cluster in the car as well or keep it old school?

I'm going to keep as much old school equipment on the car as is reasonable. I'll upgrade the front brakes to disc, I've acquired bucket seats from an 07 Trailblazer because they have the shoulder belt integrated (I want shoulder belts for safety), and other convenience/safety/performance upgrades. But mostly I want it to lean/look more '57 - on the surface, anyway. Of course things can/will change. I may pull the center console out of the Camaro and see if it can be integrated into the 57 without looking like a hack job.

Agree on the 3rd pedal. Not very common anymore. Performance-wise the 8AT or 10AT from the late model Camaros is probably better than the 6MT, and more driveable. And I would have accepted either of those ATs (or even the 6AT), but I think that would have required modding the trans tunnel whereas I don't think that is necessary for the 6M (I'll have to check around).

I wish I could pirate the rear end out of the Camaro too, but it's an IRS system and the 57 is a solid axle. If I were Matt, making the mod would be a possibility, but I don't have the skill or confidence to do that. There are kits and Youtubes for almost everything to modernize a shoe box Chevy, but I haven't found one that makes this conversion "easy".
