Draining old fuel
Hi folks it's been awhile since I was around. Hope all of you are doing Great. Curious I tried to stick a clear hose to siphon fuel that's about a year old. I slid it in close to 2 feet and tried to pump it out and nothing. The tube is dry like no gas??? Gauge says 1/2 tank I believe it's not working properly. Is there any item in the line that prevents any item being forced down the gas filler line??? Thanks for any help. Oh and it's a 1990 bonneville LE, I am the original owner.

Re: Draining old fuel
I believe there is something that blocks a hose from going past the bottom of the filler neck.

Re: Draining old fuel
You should be able to disconnect the fuel filter, put stunting under that connection and then jump the fuel pump to empty the tank

Re: Draining old fuel
I thought about that,a couple of tears ago I tested if the pump was working ,as it turned
out the tank was empty??
Can you explain stunting? And even jumping the pump?.Sorry to ask this much,I guess if I turned it over with starter it might damage something since the fuel would pump.out the fuel.

Re: Draining old fuel
If like a 92-99, there is a green electrical connector hanging out right near the battery. If you run a wire to it from the positive battery post, it'll run the fuel pump.

Re: Draining old fuel
That's sounds good, can I remove the Schrader valve at the fuel rail and use a hose there? Can I leave the fuel relay in?. Big thanks for help guys.

Re: Draining old fuel
It would be easier to disconnect the fuel line off the rail. On my 95 I found the fuel pump relay, removed it and jumped the connections for the pump there.

Re: Draining old fuel
I am bummed to say I never did this but this week for sure. I just got to my Camaro SS so that fuel was older. Can anyone tell me where is the relay on this car? And do I jump #30 and # 87 pins?

Re: Draining old fuel
Not sure on the location but if your relay looks like this, then yes on the pins.
