98 Bonneville Issues.

Post by CHRIS904 »

Hello, I'm a new owner of a 98 bonneville. Surprisingly has only 37k original miles. Anyways. Driving it home I ran it like I stole it. Rode really nice. When I stopped I got the oil pressure warning it dropped to 0 multiple times. I did not hear or feel any noise from the drive train. Anyways today I got a mechanical guage and tested. I start at around 55 to 60 psi at Idle I let it run ac on max for 30 minutes at operating temp she held steady at 40 plus psi at Idle. I think we are good there. Anyways I noticed the sensors plug was coated in oil. I look up and the power steering pump is coated in fluid. Someone replaced the oil pressure sensor I can see. I can't seem to determine if it's the pump or timing cover. I'm guessing I should toss dye into the oil and see what happens? I have pictures you can view. Any tips thanks.

It's hard to tell from the pictures and could even be the valve cover gasket. You're likely going to have to brake clean the whole area and run it to see where it's coming from.

That's what I was thinking. Got to diagnos camshaft sensor error today.

I'll figure it out. Got the camshaft sensor issue diagnosed it was the camshaft sensor. Did not 0 out when the button rolled around. No more check engines. When I change the altenator I'll get to see the valve cover and behind the power steering pump better.
