2001 SE Transmission Issue
Hello,
2001 Bonneville SE.
At 112K miles I had the trans rebuilt.
I'm at 214K miles now and I feel it slipping when I'm in high gear when I want to accelerate.
Nothing from a standstill.....only in high when, for example entering freeway...cruise set and creeping up a hill etc.
I just put 3 new coils and an ignition control module in thinking it was a miss-fire.
Is there anything I can do other than a full teardown?

Is it slipping or do you have erratic RPMs going up and down and bucking a little bit?

Re: 2001 SE Transmission Issue
99% of the time, your symptoms are ignition issues under load. I know you've replaced the coil and ICM already. Do you have a way to watch live data with a scan-tool to determine which cylinder is misfiring? It wouldn't hurt to change the plugs and wires also.

Re: 2001 SE Transmission Issue
I would change plugs and wires as stated above. I've also had a dirty MAF cause similar situations.

Regarding dirty MAF......I assume there is a special cleaner for this.
Can I spray it on the vehicle or do I need to remove it?
Thanks

Yes, there is a special MAF cleaner and, yes, it's kinda pricey. I think it might be easier to clean with the MAF removed.

You can get the MAF cleaner at any auto parts store. Remove the MAF and spray it down.
