*creaks door open, peers in*

Post by zuper8 »

I went 4 years without a Bonneville, and it just wasn't right. I acquired this little gem a couple of weeks ago, after about a year of casually keeping my eye out on Facebook marketplace. Once this relatively beautiful condition Pluto clone came up for sale, it was love at first sight. 106k nearly rust free Southern car, owned by an elderly couple since new in 1992. It's been mostly sitting since 2016. Some work to do, but for 30 years old, not bad at all. The universe feels just a little bit more in balance now that I have a Bonneville again!

Why just creak the door open? Just kick it down in a blaze of glory.

Nice score on the"new" car. 106k miles in 30 years...wow. Just getting broken in.

Ha!! Well, I can't help but feel a little sheepish for not being around. This is such a great forum, and I feel grateful for the handful of people that have kept it going over the years. This is a good place. And yes, I feel like this is a good candidate for a long-term keeper. I want to do this one up really nicely and just keep it as my toy. Kind of a weird car to choose for a toy, but then, I'm pretty weird.

I'm currently in the process of redoing the headliner, then I will scrub down the fairly good condition but dirty interior. Then, I need to collect parts for Delphi ignition swap. If any one has an extra ICM, coils, and ICM plate that they'd like to turn into money, let me know! I'm in particular need of the ICM plate, the other stuff I can buy on rockauto. But sadly, no 93-95 cars in the junkyard around me so I'll need to get lucky on the ICM plate.

Nice!

If you want an alternative to the soda can weigh down method, I made plaster molds on last headliner I did. It probably sounds annoying but it was cheap, easy and worked better.

With respect to the headliner, instead of soda cans or plaster molds, could you cover the new fabric with a plastic sheet then pour course sand in the contour areas while the glue sets?
