1997 Bonneville SE - Radio Theft Deterrent

Post by SpiritLake »

Hey everyone, I'm absolutely brand new to this website so I apologize if I format anything wrong, or if this is the wrong place to post this.

I just got my first car, it is the Bonneville listed in the title, although it has several issues I am working to fix, one of which being the Radio Theft Deterrent feature. The previous owner set a password on the radio and I am unable to access the vehicles audio features, I have read through the manual and if I can remember correctly, it is a four digit password. The Radio has buttons for numbers 1-6, I am thinking I might be able to guess the combination in numerical order? For example, 1111, 1112, 1113, so on and so forth.

Is there a simpler way to unlock the audio features? I would love to know. The radio also does not display any lights or anything, i'm not sure exactly how this system works so I figured I would create an account to ask those who would know best.

Here you go.

https://www.wikihow.com/Unlock-Your-Loc ... lock-Radio

If that doesn't work, google "pontiac radio security hotline" and keep going down the list of links.

Hey thank you so much man. I really appreciate this a whole lot.

This is a very confusing process, and I don't really understand why these measures are in place, but I should be able to figure it out using this guide. One question though, on my Pontiac the Radio doesn't display or turn on. I wonder if it's disconnected or something. We've been using a Bluetooth speaker like a bunch of bums cause I have been told many times that it is "impossible to use the radio"

Thanks for the link

The bulb is probably burnt out. That's also a pretty common issue and you can definitely find info on replacing that bulb via Google.
