2000 Bonneville SE Window / Lock / Mirror Controls

Post by viksfan22 »

Hey guys, so I have a lovely 2000 Bonneville that I picked up for cheap as a work car, that being said since I bought the car the power mirrors, power windows, and power locks have not worked on any door since I bought the car. Its like its completely dead... Everything I read online said to replace the DDM, but I did this the other day and nothing changed. Any idea where I should be looking for total loss of controls on every door???

I would have told you the master window switch from the beginning.

Really? The driver side window switch being bad would cause all of that to not work?? That sounds sarcastic but it's a real question. Because that would be fantastic.

So I just grabbed one from a junk yard, popped it in and still have the same issue. Is it that common that the one I got from the junk yard could be bad too?

So after I got home from work this afternoon, I looked at a few of the other things I've seen online... Pulled up the carpet under the drivers seat, and the connector under there looked pristine with no corrosion. I also had realized that when having my doors open, it didn't tell me that I had a door ajar, and when I shut the car off and get out, the radio stays on, I have to shut it off or it will stay on and drain the battery. I also didn't have a door chime, so I went to the wires at the door jamb, and would wiggle the wires back and forth I would get a door chime, but all the other issues are still there. I pulled back the rubber boot and did see that the thicker (assuming power and ground) wires were cracked, but didn't see any corrosion on the wires... I taped them up, and put it back together, but still have not fixed the issue...

There probably are broken wires in the door jam, also very common. You have to pull the harness out of the door to fully inspect.

10-4, I'll rip the harness out tonight and give it a good look over.

A break in one of the small orange power wires is my guess
