Need help with aftermarket radio and battery drain

Post by Jvbonnie »

Hello all I’m new here but I thought maybe this would be the place to ask. I recently installed an aftermarket radio in my 02 SE. Everything works just fine until I leave the car sit for more than a day. If I do it won’t start because the battery is dead. I pulled the radio back out and it stopped so I know that is the culprit. I am using a metro axxess LC-GMRC-04 harness adapter with chime box. I put a multimeter to some wires and found out that what is supposed to be the accessory wire going to the radio always has power. Even after I turn the car off and open the door it still has power. I guess I’m just trying to see if anyone has dealt with this before or maybe there is something odd that Pontiac did with the factory harness. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :banghead:

If I remember correctly, I used IGN3 for my turn on signal for my aftermarket radio.

Sadly, the radio does not power on in ACC, but if you push the key just a little bit past, not quite to ON... It'll power up... And your heated seats will work too lolol
