Hesitation

Post by Partsguynick »

Saturday I went on a road trip. After two hours on the highway and another have in stop ago traffic. I park the car shut it off. then realize I need to move over a little bit. Get back in start it up. Starts right up but when I go to hit the gas it bogs and run ruff. Like it’s flooded almost. After slowly feathering the gas it seemed to clear out. Came back after a couple hours and it ran fine. It’s a 2000 ssei. New Gm coils, icm and fuel regulator. All Gm parts. I’m stumped. No codes either.

How'd the exhaust smell? Any smoke? Does the car consume coolant? Has the intake manifold gasket been replaced at any point?

It's a shot in the dark but intake gaskets are a bit notorious on these. Wonder if you burnt off some coolant upon starting and then it cleared up. A leakdown test could help diagnosis if you think this is a possibility (unfortunately these intake gaskets can be a bit finicky and the heat cycle of the engine can affect whether it's letting coolant into the the intake runner or not).

As mentioned above, check your coolant level and how your oil looks.

Did you ever clean your IAC or MAF sensor on the throttle body?

Intake gaskets are updated to new aluminum ones, coolant Ellbows also. Doesn’t go through any coolant. Coolant is full and hasn’t moved. Car does use a quart of oil in between oil changes. Iac and maf were replaced a year ago. No smoke out of the exhaust. Didn’t notice any coolant smell. This is why I’m stumped
