I replaced the steering wheel position sensor in the STS. No more Service Stability Sys message!!!!!

Definitely a little more of a pain in the butt with a motorized tilt/telescoping column though.

I used my truck to push it into the garage. It's sad. It's been sitting for a couple of years now, since I replaced it as my daily driver. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's been a really great car, but it just had too many major problems at a time where I couldn't afford to repair it and I needed some dependable daily transportation. So it sits. Tires have all gone flat, it stinks inside and I'm noticing that the clear coat is starting to peel off in places that weren't a problem before. One day though, I'll get it restored to it's former glory. I seriously considered rebuilding the motor to use in a boat, but too much sensitive electronics that I didn't feel I could protect well enough to prevent constant problems out in the salt water. Maybe I just need to post it here as a parts car and help keep everyone else going. It's all there, and I just can't stand to watch it deteriorate.

Got the gto ready for LS fest. So complete cleaning in and out, wiper blades, oil change, and new belts. Also checked everything else to make sure it's good on a 7 hour drive.

Had the transmission oil,new filters and shift kits done on my (2) 2005 SLE.
Both seem to shift smoother.

I'm getting the winter beater ready for winter... I replaced the rear pads, rotors, calipers and brake hoses on the DTS.

As for the STS, it got a new windshield this morning.

All our trees are starting to turn and plants in the garden are on their way out. We're supposed to see some mixed precipitation at the end of the week, but this isn't uncommon. We usually see a little snow before the end of October, but nothing that typically lasts. Halloween can be cool, but we normally don't have snow on the ground.

Normally I prefer to do all necessary maintenance before I park any of my vehicles for the season, but I just didn't get to the STS this spring so I pulled it out a little early. I figure it's probably best to work on it while I have others to drive.

Up to almost 50,000 miles now..... getting old, LOL

The race clutches in the transmission are holding out under the clouds of burning tire rubber, LOL

I so love turning up the timing advance to 20 degrees with 12 psi

Streaming music via bluetooth from my phone rocks, even at my old age, LOL, but I need sound to block out the horrendous roaring of the unrestricted exhaust resonating in true V6 fashion.

Cut elongated holes with a cutting wheel on a dremel on the inside of my trunk to get to the clips that keep the reflector firmly in place.

The reflector is now off of the car and is going to undergo surgery sometime this week. It kept filling up with water and then spilling out when the trunk was open. Need to clean it up inside, try to make it look better if I can, and then seal it back up in time for the winter.

I pulled the headliner board out of the GTO and stripped it for new fabric. Of which I'll start putting on tomorrow.

The surgery on the reflector ended up being a maiming, for both the part and my right hand.

Anyway, I'll be fine, but the reflector won't.

Need to start saving for a GXP tail assembly I suppose. Then I'll have to actually find one.

Changed oil & filter and also oil sending unit on my 2005SLE-Crimson.

Changed O2 sensor by the converter and also front pads and rotors on my son's 2000SLE.
Had to really heat it up to get it out.
Then had to get a 18mm tap to chase the threads before installing the new one.
Did it by my brother in-law who has a hoist.
Can't tell you how much I appreciate his hoist.

Removed the radio so I can ship it out to Andrew to have the bulbs replaced. The display is mostly dark and it'd be nice to have a clock again.

The dash looks funny without the bezel.

Replaced the serpentine belts on both Bonneville's.
One belt had cracks and the other was not too bad.
Kept it for a backup.
With the cold weather coming didn't want to lose a belt.
Much easier in the garage when its 58 degrees.
They are predicting temperatures in the 40's and 30's the next 14 days.
Normal high temperature is 55 degrees.
I am afraid it is going to be a cold winter this year in Milwaukee.
Luckily the wife and I are now retired so we will just stay in when the weather is bad.

Installed a junkyard replacement reflector panel my Dad sourced for me in his spare time. It's about as ugly as the one I broke, but at least the car doesn't look like a Grand Prix from the rear anymore.

Also did a pre-winter oil change and added some Marvel Mystery Oil. Also added it to the fresh tank of gas. Seems to be running great. I'll check the mileage once it's empty to see if there was any difference.

Finally installed my ZZP front Power Log on the Bonneville.

No exhaust leaks. I'm amazed. (Mostly because i usually have terrible luck with exhaust work.)

I reused all the original bolts for now. The only thing I ended up messing up was the oil dipstick tube, but it's back in for now and I'll just order a replacement for it.

Overall a smashing success.

Put on the winter tires and wheels in the dark last night since apparently it is now winter where I live all of a sudden. Hooray.

Anyway, I am now less likely to die.

Put my newly repaired radio back in (Thanks Andrew! - harofreak00) and there are lights I didn't even know existed! Awesome work and a super fast turn around time.

Re-installed the dash bezel, put in "new" plastic fasteners (also from Andrew), installed a few more in the trunk, and replaced my rear armrest vent assembly so there isn't a big unsightly chunk of plastic missing and broken vents anymore.

And it all took less than 30min.

The car is in the best shape since I bought it. A few things left to sort out, as always, but it's certainly coming along.

I hate working on cars in the winter. But we had a few nice days over the holiday break so I ended up changing O2 sensors on the STS, as well as put in a new/used front differential.

Then the flange between the downpipe and the cat blew off the Olds, so had to weld in a patch pipe.
