Erratic Gas Gauge
Hi folks, my wifes 02 Regal gas gauge was dropping off and rising slowly so I thought bad sending unit so, I change the whole unit, pump and sending unit. It wasn't the problem, now the gauge is going completely full and dropping to empty and not slowly. Today I went under neath to check the connections where they go through the trunk and also played with the connections at the top of the tank, nothing!! The wire harness goes down behind the passengers side of the back seat then, along the passenger side rail in the floorboard. Without taking the jam molding and the seat out I couldn't feel or see it any further. Is there a problem area with these or might it be the BCM?

Re: Erratic Gas Gauge
I would check to verify if the gauge is doing what it's told, or if it has a mind of its own.

yes, a instrument cluster repair guy said the same only, they don't repair them. Are they repairable or maybe just this guy?RJolly87 wrote:I would check to verify if the gauge is doing what it's told, or if it has a mind of its own.

Re: Erratic Gas Gauge
OPEN THE HATCH IN THE TRUNK TO access the pump - move the float arm up and down while you or helper observe the gauge
