Advice on a 00' SSEI

Post by MajorsSerj »

Hello Everyone-

I'm looking for advice on possibly purchasing a 00' SSEI that has 122k on it. It's a two owner car with the current owner having owned it since 11k on it. The car does have it's bumps and bruises that would come with it, but some of the recent maintenance done on the vehicle in the past two years with the service records are:

Complete set of tires
front struts
all steel brake lines
radiator & hoses
front brakes
plugs & wires
fuel pump
fuel filter
ignition module
crank sensor
mass air flow sensor
throttle body position sensor
fuel pressure regulator
idle air control module
motor mount

Some of the cons are bubbling near gas filler door, radio display fading in and out, heated seat not operating, all things that were current on my 03' SLE.

I guess I am not sure exactly to look for with the SC, HUD, and if there is anything else I should be paying attention to with the SSEI specifically, as this would be the first supercharged I am looking to buy, Asking is 3000 obo.

Thanks for reading

I think it’s a solid option. Depending on how bad the gas cap rust is you may be able to sand down the paint and treat/repaint if it’s not too far gone. You could be looking at a water leak issue , but again that’s pretty much par for the course with these cars and the age of em.

Having a look at that transmission would probably be wise. It’s my experience the supercharged cars tend to attract drivers who like to hoon their vehicles, versus the grandmas that opt for SLEs and SEs.

Once you get bubbles by the gas door, it is too late. Everything behind that panel is already gone. It needs to be cut out entirely and replacement.

The radio display is a few bulbs away from working, and you just need to find the break in the heating element wires to fix the heated seat.

As long as the HUD works you're good. The supercharger coupler can be noisy on occasion, but you'd know that right away. Check the fluid and color of the transmission. Make sure you take it on a good long ride and see if it acts up at all. If it has a sunroof, then see if there any signs of water intrusion.

Thank you guys for your input. I’m not too concerned of the bubbling or other cosmetic blemishes as I am to the SC, and other more costly repairs as mentioned above. I will be hoping to meet the seller this week to test drive and make a decision. Do you guys believe the price is a fair price that is being asked if it, with what has been done thus far? Thanks again!

The price is okay. It better be super clean otherwise for that price.

Vehicle was clean /owned and maintained and serviced by the owner who owns a shop, All parts Ac/delco or Delphi. Got it for 2700. Thanks again for you input and I will post a few add.l questions in their respective topics.

I followed the instructions on how to post a pic through Imgur to the "t" and when I go to preview it just shows a little pic with a question mark. What am I doing wrong?
