Hey guys, been looking into getting some Speed daddy headers because they are very much affordable but I have alot of questions and every thread seems to be just bits and pieces of what I need. First of all I was thinking about just getting it done by a shop because I know its a fairly big job and I dont own a welder. I bought a ZZP downpipe with a cat so Im sure thats gonna have to be fabbed to keep the cat (So i've been told.)
So my main questions are what I need for the job to get done.
I've read that I need to get a fan spacer kit to make the fan motor closer to the fan so it does not touch the headers.
Also read that I need a W body transmission dipstick and possibly a oil dipstick?
One member has had to cut out a portion of their motor mount is everyone having to do that?
I know a new flex pipe is a necessity on these.
Do I need an extended O2 censor? I've heard some do and some dont.
let me know if ^^^ these are required to install before the big header install happens.
I'd like to know the basic processes because Im completely clueless. Are you guys having to take the motor mounts off? Can the headers be cut to meet a ZZP downpipe? I've not seen any tutorials or walk through for these, just little bits and pieces of problems people were having installing them and tips.
Let me know if you've done a header install and if I need anything else to get the job done, I feel like they are a bit above my expertise in installing them so I'm going to be calling the local shops around me to see if they will even give me quotes. hopefully it wouldn't be to expensive.

If you don't have a welder, then yes have a shop do the job.
I've only done this on pre-00 cars. But your list is complete. O2 sensor needs to be extended on the pre-00.
One thing you missed is the crossover pipe might not be bent correctly. It's close, but make sure the shop doesn't try to strong-arm it on. If it's not *perfect* it needs to be cut and re-welded to fit, otherwise the lower joint will leak.

Thank you so much for the tip on the crossover. So about the dipsticks, is it both for sure or just the tranny? Also do you use header wrap on the crossover? I imagine that would help alot being right under the TB. I appreciate the quick response Matt.

Re: SD Header install need answers
Just the trans dipstick. I had no problems with the original oil dipstick when putting SD headers in.

X2 for just the trans dipstick (for the '00-'05 anyway).
>>Get one from a Grand Prix for any of the years the headers are listed for.
BTW, the baffle on the fan motor is only an issue on the Grand Prix. There is plenty-o-clearance on the Bonneville.

Re: SD Header install need answers
Ok thank you for you're info. Not sure when Im going to get this done, I called around and the cheapest shop that gave me a rough quote was 500$. So im thinking of maybe buying a set of ZZP headers because I alrdy have the downpipe and it would bolt right up to it and have a go at it myself? Not sure on how to go about the whole process or if im crazy to attempt on my own because I've never done anything like this and its a big big job to do. Let me know your opinion.Kersh wrote:X2 for just the trans dipstick (for the '00-'05 anyway).
