Transmission
Hello, I have a question about what transmission should I get for durability and performance? I have a 97 bonneville SE, 3800. I believe that the transmission needs to be replaced and I am looking to replace it with a used one. Low budget can not afford new. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Transmission
Hm. Well, 4t65, but I think you need to either pcm and harness swap or tune? not sure.

Re: Transmission
Did the 97 NA cars already have the 4T65? If someone confirms, then your best bet would be to get one from another Bonne or LeSabre with the same final drive ratio, unless you plan to tune.

Re: Transmission
In 97 n/a's had the 60-e. Supercharged cars got the 65-hd.
Easiest way to tell if it's a 60 is if you have a vacuum line running from the throttle body to the transmission in the front.
The shiny think under the connector in the center of this pic is the vacuum modulator that only 60s have.
