It's mine, all mine! ('01 SLE)

Post by illimey »

Thanks for the welcome via my post in the Introductions section. Will take my own photos soon, but for now here is the link to the photos the dealer used to reel me in... Not sure how long the link will be live, as it has been SOLD. To me!

Taking it in to my 10+ year trusted mechanic for a once over on Monday. All looks good to me, but I haz no skillz in the mechanical department. Drives very nicely, no weird noises, everything apart from the sunroof works. I'm the 2nd owner, was traded in for a new Caddy at a main dealer. No open recalls, really think it has been very well cared for. I even got both original remote/key sets including the valet key! Not bad for a 17 year old car.

Hoping for a good few years of comfortable yet fun motoring around the Midwest. See you on the road!
Hmmm, here's a list of cars I've owned: Fiat Panda; Fiat Strada Cabriolet (on the list of the ten worst Italian cars ever); Subaru Legacy (biggest money pit ever placed on to wheels); Hyundai Accent; Hyundai Elantra; Hyundai Sonata; 2xKia Sportage; Honda Element; Nissan Sentra; Buick Rendezvous (blew engine, had it replaced, got t-boned a month later); Kia Rondo (blew engine, replaced under warranty, still going 'strong'); Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5spd (most fun I've ever had behind the wheel); Toyota Solara (RIP, another engine toasted) and now Pontiac Bonneville! I think that is it.

Thanks! I'm out in Warrenville (Wheaton/Aurora/Naperville area). Stock '01 SLE, Silver/Gray leather, Zxxxxx, I know Chicagoland's a small area so you'll probably see me rolling around soon ;)

If you do, come say hi!

Loving the car so far.

Ok, I am in West Chicago and Elgin (I have houses in both), but grew up in WeGo for the most part.

:bwoohoo:

So everything looks great - my mechanic said I've got a good one (no pun intended, but it's there I suppose)

A/C lines are corroded, so when I'm wealthy (in about 50 years) I'll have those replaced.
Rear air shocks probably deflated and are rusty, he's not bothered about those unless I am - which I'm not as 99% of the time this car will be driver only. Naturally will have them done when I'm wealthy.
Dirty engine air filter.
Front brake pads at 4mm, and driver's side rotor could use replacing.

Pretty neat report on Autoserve with photos and everything. 55 point inspection. I'm happy with the results.

I'll take some crappy photos soon and post them in the appropriate place for more abuse....
