I'm back, to rescue another! (And not let my sister drive this one.
Previous thread. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 42841.html
So I started looking for another 88 to keep miles off my Tacoma, and to take on trips in more comfort and way better gas mileage. It had to be a 96-99, had to be a non-regency, as I like the newer grille and cladding alot, and had to be relatively clean. I didn't want to deal with another rusty one... Oh, and under $1000. Yeah, right.
But I just happened to search the correct terms, and found a beat up, but rust free looking 1999 Oldsmobile 88, with 115k....however it was mislabeled as a 1989, and was also up as an Oldsmobile 89....
So I went and looked at it, which was about an hour and fifteen minutes away. It was worth it though. The car is basically RUST FREE, the brake lines and fuel lines are all original, and the interior was PERFECT. (Except those *dang* soft touch door panels...) It drove PERFECTLY, even though every bumper and mirror had damage of some sort. Oh well.
But it had coolant in the oil. So I offered the guy $600, he took $700. Perfect!
I now own a 1999 Oldsmobile 88 Base, with 115k Woo!
Anyways, pics.
When I bought it. With an unbeknownst dry coolant reseviour. lol.

Next day I ordered lower intake gaskets, upper intake, brakes, plugs, wires, filters, idler pulley, water pump, belt, aluminum elbows, ect...
Thing had the OEM rotors....So it was due for new ones. Also oil coated the subframe and lines.

The LIM gasket was fine...

Yeah, how long was this poor thing burning coolant. (I had an O2 heater code...I wonder why.)

Upper intake runners were warped.

Oh well. Here's almost everything I replaced.

Done!
Did some cleaning. (I swear it sat in a pond for a year or two. The outside was covered in green algae.

Damages. Just really needs two bumper covers.

Oh, and the interior! It's really nice!

Put in a new used Kenwood stereo.

So yeah, this is it. I've put over 1k on it since the intake gasket and it's just being a reliable 3800 boat. (Thanks to FE1 suspension)
