This sound is coming from the front of the tranny housing it's like dry bearings spinning, this is why I believe it's the transmission pump, but I'm not certain. Since I need to replace the intake gaskets U&L in the car had 150k miles I figure go ahead rebuild the engine economically replace anything that's on the lower side of tolerances. Since the engines out might as well address this annoyance before it becomes a problem.
I would greatly appreciate any advice members have on anything I've said here and if someone has had the misfortune of this sound turning into a long walk home from the junk yard, I'm thankful for your input. I haven't searched the forums yet, but doing that's a given. I want to stay active here so other people can at the very least be knowledgeable when talking to a mechanic. I myself can't believe when I tell someone that their thermostat doesn't display the temperature of the car on there dashboard; look at me like I'm trying to tell them the sky is red.
So to summarize my ramblings
When I start the car I have always (6 years now) had a low pitch whistle like sound almost like dry bearings grinding. After I let the car idle for about 10 seconds in the summer to about 20 seconds in the winter (getting colder now
Again thanks for any and all input.
I love my bonnie but not half as much as my dog Loki loves it, I have even made people ride in the back seat when it's our "let's go for a ride boy"time. Not kidding.
