I wrote "temporary" because I`m afraid that the bolt can be broken sooner or later because of moving back and forward during accelerating or/and braking.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Just got mine in the mail, it's going in this weekend ( or sooner ).
A temporary fix does not exist. It becomes a solution until it needs to be fixed again.

Why is there a gap at the bottom of the roller?Simon75 wrote:...and after upgrades. Work great but...

Did you install the swaybar bushing on top of the subframe, instead of below the subframe?
The roller should be touching both the subframe and the roller mounting bracket.
Watch your video, it also looks like your subframe is shifting.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Is this mount the same for the Northstar V8 engine? I just bought a used 05 GXP and the front of the engine seems to raise up several inches when it is in gear with the brake pedal held and the gas pedal blipped. From the pics in this post I see the 3800 V6 and wondered if it is the same. Thanks

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
It is not the same. The Northstar doesn't use a straight through bolt, it has an angle to it. Some people have been able to make hockey pucks work with some custom engineering. The Northstar mount is 10x harder to replace as well because of the limited room. I can swap a regular Bonneville mount in about 2 minutes, the Northstar one is over an hour.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
I've done the custom engineering to get it to work on a N*. 20 times harder might be an understatement.
Is there a bigger diameter rubber bushing for the top ? My first bushing split in 2.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Quick question on this. I haven't looked underneath yet and was wondering if a larger diameter bushing could be used in place of the sway bar bushing. I have a few brand new neoprene bushings I'll never use. One side is the same but the other side is nearly double the size Is there a hole in the sub frame this needs to fit thru then rest on the under side of the top or does just the bolt go thru any hole and the bushing sits against the very bottom in which case I don't see why this bushing wouldn't work.
Nice work coming up with this custom mount and the detailed install doesn't get any better.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Yes you could use a large diameter bushing.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Works great. I don't see anything temporary about it. I did have to shave that bushing on one side to make it the same diameter as the other or it didn't fit up in there.
The old mount was separated nearly all the way at the bottom.
It's all tight now.

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
I do seem to have a slight vibration at a low rpm. This is brief and minor, only at a certain lower rpm and I attribute it to the harder neoprene bushing I used on the bottom as is often the case with them. I may also have compressed the roller slightly more than 3.75 inches.
Aside from that, I can feel a big difference in how the torque goes right to the wheels now. There is zero movement in the motor/transmission when I rock the car in park. Definitely a big improvement over the stock mount.

I don`t instaled anything like swaybar and my solution was very unflexible.
Then I decidet to install new OEM mount. After one week new OEM mount was a junk too
Now I`m looking again for roller (where I threw it out?
Greetings for everybody!

They are used from the cars that I part out. They still have plenty of life, I've sold hundreds of these things and never had anyone say that the bushing wore out.J7319M wrote:harofreak00 - Are the sway bar bushings in your kits new or used ?

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount
Harofreak00,....would there be any added benefit stiffness wise (obviously not with a metal sleeve) of using either a poly based or TPR (thermoplasticized rubber) mount vs just the standard rubber 4" spool roller? I'm ok with firm shifts as long as its not bone jarring.
