Radio and Heater don't work - SOLVED

Post by badgoat »

I recently replaced my 1998 SSEi with a 1997 SSEi. Today I tried to program the lock fob. I jumped pins 4 & 8 on the OBD Connector, got in the car closed the door, turned on the key. The locks cycled and I held the lock and unlock buttons on the fob until the locks cycled. Now the fob works, the car starts but the heater and radio don;t work. the heater displays 3 dashes, the radio doesn't show anything. Thanks in advance for any help on this!

Blown fuse is what I'd check for first.
There are also ground buses beneath the carpeting by the kick panels which can corrode and cause issues.

Duh, talk about missing the obvious! Apparently when I jumped the OBD pins it blew the fuse for the radio/heater constant power. I had tried hooking up my OBD cable with no luck and now it makes sense that this now works as it is powered from this fuse as well. Thanks for the quick and accurate help!

You're very welcome.
We all miss the obvious sometimes.
Thanks for reporting back on what fixed the problem.
