AC Compressor Bearing Replacement

Post by nos4blood70 »

Hey ladies and gents.

So I have a noisy AC compressor bearing. I found some how to videos on YouTube for the V5 compressor but most of them were on different cars. Has anyone does this job on the 2000+ Bonneville? From the videos it doesn't look too bad, but I was wondering if anyone knows any of the Bonneville specifics.

Thanks in advance.

Bump!

Debating on just taking this to a shop, since I don't have a press.

Did mine but it's been a while ago. I was able to get to it through the passenger fender well. I had to drop the compressor down so that the clutch puller (parts store loaner) had enough clearance. Took the new bearing and pulley to the machine shop, they pressed the old bearing out and new one in while I waited for $10. Reinstalled using the loaned clutch puller/installer. Don't recall any real problems and it worked quietly for almost 2 years until the car was totaled in an accident.
