Planning in advance for subwoofers

I'm the kid wanting a 2001 SSEi as my first car, and I'm also a major basshead. What would be the best way to fit two 15's in the trunk??

Well obviously the trunk itself is quite large, so the enclosure you use is up to you. To connect subwoofers to the car's stock Bose system, you'll need a line output converter. You can tap into the wires of the 6X9s in the rear deck to get your signal, and then plug it into the amp of your choice.

Before I installed an aftermarket head unit, I was using one of these:

Thanks, I knew about the line out converter and how to get it hooked up. My main question is how do I attach the box to the trunk so it doesn't move around when I turn a corner or something?

I have yet to figure that out in an elegant fashion... I propped the subwoofer in the back right corner of the trunk, against my tool box... Using an ice scraper. LOL!

You can potentially use bungee chords or maybe even velcro on the bottom of the box.

Looking for something more permanent but the velcro idea is simple enough. I'll just do that then. Thanks!

Does the trunk mat have a backer board or is it a floppy piece of fabric like 92-99? My G8 has a backer board and a couple pieces of Velcro work well.

Sadly, it's just a floppy piece of fabric.

An idea I had that I never had a chance to implement was to remove the plastic cover and use some self tapping screws and fabric or flexible metal straps affixed to the metal bracing on the back of the seat

or go through the plastic cover into the metal. just make sure theres nothing behind it when you do. also make sure not do go too far in through the backseat into the foam or springs lol

I used eye-hooks screwed into my sub cabinet, and then used bungee cords to hook onto frame openings in the trunk.
Alternatively you could do it the other-way-around and screw eye-hooks into the metal frame behind the seat cushion and strap them around your sub, *or* put eye-hooks on both and bungee between the eye-hooks. I used thin bungee cords, maybe 3/8" thick so they weren't too obtrusive.

If you are planning on a custom box, build it so that you can actually use stainless hardware to bolt it down. And use lots of sound deadener and a very heavily braced box.
