Water in the left rear floorboard

Post by fmacnak »

Hi all, so after it rains I get a wet carpet on the left rear side of the vehicle. Any thoughts on how that occurs? I don't think my door seals are leaking. I'm wondering if it's the sunroof drain is plugged or loose. Any thoughts?

96 SE, same symptom, checked door seals, etc. (this car not equipped with sunroof). solution, caulked around fresh air intake (located between wipers). also should clean any trash in wiper well.

It could be the sunroof drain. Pop the rear seat bottom out and see if it's wet under that side and look for evidence of water trails leading up near the door.

If it is the sunroof drain, use some good glue to adhere it when you put it back on or it will come off again in the future, happened to me.

Wiper intake as stated was my left leak.
Also, Re install the door seals filling in the bottom
with a piece from the yard.
Could be as much as 2" shorter at the bottom when you do this.

Be sure to check for shrinking door weatherstripping as well.

I took no chances on mine; RTV and zipties to secure the tubes to each other.

hi, I had this in my 96 SSEi and it was a small oval piece with little tabs in the floor
look under the car and you will see it - caulk it after cleaning and it will stop the water ingress
