Rear Windows and Door Locks not working

Post by robauto »

03 Bonneville 185k- I read most of the posts on this common problem, but still not sure if there is a common fix. One of my windows are in the down position and want to get it up before we get snow and rain tomorrow. Both rear windows and door locks do not work from the front drivers doors switch or the rear window switch or the door locks on the remote fob. Both front windows and door locks work ok from all switches.
Is it most likely the rear module and is that in the trunk? I cannot find that in the rock auto catalog. Or is it the wire under the drivers seat. I have had the typical water problem from the sunroof recently. I will troubleshoot this weekend, but if I can get the window up tonight. I guess I can remove the switch and run power directly to the window motor wire to bring it up.

I read that the wire connector corrosion issue under the drivers seat also shuts down the pass front window, but mine works.

any help/ideas so I can move through this quickly.

thanks

Would be worth a shot to remove the driver seat to check for any corrosion or clear signs of water damage. It is pretty easy to remove, just a little cumbersome.

If that looks fine, get a used RIM from Bonnevilles Unlimited or check your local junk yards and grab a couple of them. I'm not 100% on this, but perhaps the LeSabre shares the same part?

Very first thing I would do is to check and see if any fuses or relays have blown.
The apparent overlap in fuse and relay usage is heavy.

Fuse 7 in the rear fusebox, controls the driver's door module
Fuse 12 labeled IGN1 for the RIM, turn signal switch,,CC and IPC
Fuse 29 IGN SW not only is for the ignition switch but also the DIM,RIM AND Remote control door lock receiver
Relay 46 RAP for RIM & Sunroof
Circuit Breaker 57 is PWR WDO 30 amp Door Module

If all of these check out, then I would carefully inspect the under the driver's seat splice, as detailed here : viewtopic.php?f=18&t=14673
Another thread with some useful info: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 19550.html

The RIM is behind the rear seat cushion on the driver's side.

Let us know what fixes the problem, as it will help others in the same situation.

thanks guys, I will work on it this weekend and check all of that. I will tape up the window for the snow that is coming. my guess is it will be the wiring under the seat. I will let you know.

It was the splice under the drivers seat. It was corroded. I soldered in a splice and everything now works. Problem due to water/sunroof drain. Thanks for your help, both of you were right on.

Glad you fixed the problem and posted your findings.

If you aren't already aware, the leaking sunroof fixes can be found in this "sticky" http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 25362.html
