SLE replacing the SSEi

Post by MikeKerr »

Replacing the 2001 SSEi with 230k miles with a 2005 SLE with 140k miles. I bought the SLE sight unseen- did not even see a picture after running a CARFAX and seeing it spent most of its life in Florida and was regularly serviced at a GM dealer- I suspected it was owned by a retired person. It was traded in at a Virginia new Honda dealer. I made an offer by e-mail ($2800) and they accepted it without any negotiation. The SLE needs some work, all easy, like a tune up, trans flush, etc. But I am very happy with the transaction. I am especially happy not having to buy premium fuel, here in PA premium carries a .50 per gallon increase over 87 octane.

You have great eyes! Yes there is a GXP rear bumper on the SSEi (I also use to have GXP tail lights on the SSEi). The only Bonneville I would of replaced the SSEi with was a 2005 SLE because the exterior ground effects match the GXP. I really like the GXP look- just can't risk the GXP engine issues. I do my own work and the GXP was just to much stuff in too little a space.

Looks like you've got lots of spare parts if nothing else being the same color and all!
