Head unit install question

hello all. I recently bought a kenwood double din head unit. I'm wondering if i can use the C2R-GM32R http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_833 ... GM32R.html interface or if i need to get the GMOS 09 because of the monsoon amplifier(I am wondering this because i have a C2R-GM32R sitting around from my old Bonneville SLE so I do not want to get the GMOS 09 if i don't have to)

From the description it looks like either will work. Try what you have, worst case scenario, it just won't work right. Then you can buy the GMOS09

Yeah I hooked it all up with the old interface and the head unit lights up and everything but no sound. If I turn the volume all the way up I can just barely hear sound if I put my ear to the speaker. I'm now wondering if its a problem with wiring or if its the interface that doesn't work..

I'm guessing the old interface doesn't send power down the A3 pin to power on the amplifier.

I see thanks for the thread...So what wire will the new A3 wire connect to on the head unit's harness? there is a blue/white one available..

I think that one is for a powered antenna and should work as a remote wire.

So i tried the setup you had with the GMO7b and i couldnt even get it to light up. I also must have blown a fuse or something because i now have no dash gauge lights and my stock stereo doesnt even work anymore. not sure what i did wrong..

No, only the red wire. All I did was cut it, put those ends together, and threw a butt connector on it then ran a wire from that to the radio harness.
Check your fuses and report back. If you followed my exact steps it should work. Sounds like you might have a short somewhere in the harness though. Check all your connections and make sure they cannot short out on each other.

Ok so I have three fuses that I will replace, the "audio (21)" "Instrument Panel (30)" and the "Dash Integration Module (38)" and hopefully this will fix my loss of lighting and audio from my first attempt...I also noticed that the number 63 fuse which is titled "Audio Amplifier" was not there at all which must be normal? anyways headed to walmart hopefully they have what I need

good news and bad - good- the new head unit powers on and makes sound. Bad- there is a high pitch static in the front left and the small rear door speakers...i tried rewiring the front left speaker wires and got the same result. I do have an antenna adapter which is hooked up so it dont think it is that...the front right door and rear deck speakers work perfectly so i wonder what my problem is...im so close...

I'm not sure on that. I do have to admit I have some feedback with my setup. I really think it's my stereo though. I haven't checked if it is only certain speakers.
Mine might be a little different too. I wouldn't describe it as a high pitch static. It's just a weird sound. It doesn't get louder with volume and goes away if volume turned to 0.

The sound that my stereo is making is a really loud screeching type sound that is not affected by how loud or soft i turn the volume-it is always loud and it comes out of only the front left and rear door speakers. I tried different grounds to no success. maybe it has something to do with the onstar or satellite radio idk but any tips or suggestions would be very appreciated

I am going to sent my stereo back to Amazon and buy a more expensive one. After read reviews my issue is most definitely with the stereo as everyone else is having same issue.
I'd check your stereo out too before digging too deep.

I dont think it is a problem with the stereo tbh...I tested out the speaker wires of the speaker giving static and got a reading of 0 ohms...that is a problem right..?
