Braking wobble/shudder ¡¡PLEASE HELP!!

Post by jtmontano »

The entire car shudders as I come to a stop. The following things have been replaced:

-rotors (twice)
-brakes
-calipers
-swaybar links

I've rotated and rebalanced all tires twice as well. All of this done since June. The issue persists. When I apply the brakes, I can feel the shudder in the brake pedal as well. I'm not sure where else to go with it. Any ideas? Thanks!

Tie rods, ball joints, and wheel hubs come to mind as things to check out if the brakes are for sure not the culprit.

One thing I forgot, I also had the wheel bearings replaced in June as well.

Let me get this straight. You put all NEW (front and rear) pads and rotors on your Bonneville, and it still shudders while applying the brakes? No shudder while just driving?

That is correct. It only shudders as I come to a stop. It seems to be more "aggressive" after a while of driving and it's warmed up.

I would say faulty new rotor. Did you get cheap chinese ones that are $25 each?

Did this shutter exist before the brake work or only after? Is this your first brake job on the car?

I did notice this started happening after the wheel bearings were replaced.

I'm starting to think rotor runout because of a unclean hub, or over torqued wheel nuts

Brakes don't drag at all?
