thinking about buying this 1999 SSE

Post by ad356 »

so i went to look at this car today and its in exceptional shape. so many new parts and such a low mileage car. it has a reman transmission, fully rebuilt A/C system, new air ride pump, new rear air ride shocks, new front CV axles, new fuel pump, coolant change from dex, new upper plenum, new brakes, newer tires, new radiator and lower hose, new rear frame mounts, and an alignment. the car came straight from north carolina and has NEVER seen a winter. the car has 84K miles on the odometer and we all know for a 3800 that nothing. the guy is a 15 year GM service tech so the work was done by someone who knew what he is doing. my wife's current car is a 1996 SE, it has 164K miles on it and runs well but the A/C doesnt work, it needs new CV axles, and the tires are worn out. i am considering parting ways with the 96 selling her for $900 or so and picking up the '99. my wife finally got a job she has had a difficult time finding work, and she actually likes this generation of bonneville. she has COPD so she needs working A/C. this car is much better shape being straight from down south with LITTLE to NO rust. her current car originally came from florida but probably has seen 6-7 winters. when we bought it, it had already seen few winters and we have had it for another 3 winters. it has been a fantasia car. we paid $1,400 and sure i put some minor repairs into it, but if we sell it for $900 we did *dang* good. so..... here is the car we are looking at, it actually is the same color as her current car. there arent many around wny that look this good. its fully loaded minus the supercharger it even has the heads up display. he said he will take $4k. the car has 85K

yeah i think its a really nice car. these cars are older now so when you find a really nice example they are still fairly cheap. this thing is as clean as a 3 year old car is around here. im going to have it oil treated (rust-proof). i think these are much better car for allot less money then most of the junk that is being produced right now.

no one here has to convince me lol. the 96 SE has been a great car. i paid $1,400 for it 3 years ago and i will probably be able to flip it for $900 still. that's $500 to own a car 3 years. the 99 is virtually the same car, same color actually BUT its in cherry condition, has 1/2 as many miles on her, and is fully loaded with every bell and whistle minus the supercharger. i dont really need an L67 quite happy with the L36. i already have a high performance car, its a 1996 camaro Z28 with the LT1...... now that thing goes like stink, lol. the L67 requires high octane fuel, this is going to be my wife's car and she really needs something more economical. i already have to put high octane in the camaro and i still have a 2000 GTP that requires high octane........ not saying that the L67 isnt a great engine, they are fantasic just a little more costly to operate. L36's are cheap to drive.

Very nice and I think at a good price. Here in my part of the world, usually about $3999 Private Party is where any nice Bonneville with less than 100K miles will sell for. Too many down here like Pickups and Asian. Hope it serves you well. - BC

pickups are gas guzzlers and asian cars just plain suck with a few exceptions but i still wouldnt own one. my wife wanted an older tahoe until i showed her the gas mileage ratings
