Northern IL w-body meet XLVII Planning: 10 year anniversary!

Well kids, it was 10 years ago on March 19th that a small group of grocery getter family car fanatics decided to get together at a little hamburger joint in Downers Grove, IL for a "mini-meet" to hold them over until a larger event was planned. While there have been ups and downs along the way (turnouts varying with some members leaving us or the scene while new members began the journey anew, weather ranging from brilliant to uncooperative, etc), 10 years and 46 events later, the meets are still going!

SO, in honor of the date of the first show 10 years ago, we're having our next meet on March 28th at a new venue: Fox & Hounds in Aurora. We will have reservations in one of their "party rooms" that are off on either side of the main dining/bar area, so it will somewhat be to ourselves. These rooms also provide a variety of games for entertainment, which I will get into details below.

Food - You can order whatever you like off their menu on your own tab, so no confusion or mess with figuring out who's paying what. They have your typical bar/pub type fair. Chicken tenders, hamburgers, sammiches, etc. Link to their site with menu below.

Games - In these rooms, we will have access to the following: Free - Darts, Foosball, giant Connect 4 & giant Jenga; $1/game - air hockey; $11/hr - pool, shuffle board & ping pong.

In other words, this will basically be like a Fuddrucker's meet, but with an upgraded venue. Food will cost around the same, just with a larger menu to select from. We'll still have a large room kind of off from the rest of the restaurant, except we can make reservations, and will have access to games. It is in large strip mall, so even more space to get all our cars together. I'd like to plan this one for the evening as opposed to noon, so it'll be a bit more like a Saturday night party atmosphere.

If you're up for attending, and know you'll be their for certain, please let me know ASAP, as I will need to give them a fairly solid head count for the reservation within the next week or two.

Fox and Hound in Aurora is a good place. Not to expensive either. Jovan ( think you met him at one of your meets before), and I would go play pool there frequently.

CMNTMXR57 - Would go play?? What's stopping you from doing so again? Saaaaaay.....March 28th around 7ish?? And find someone else to drive a car as well so you can bring both the goat and the STS-V.

Carl - I'm on there, but for now, would prefer not to post it on there. These meets have always been about w-body (and other "less popular" GM) appreciation as opposed to 3800 worshiping, which unfortunately is what a lot of TCG consists of.

Neither the Caddy or GTO are moving until it stays above 60* consistently, ALL snow is gone, it rains, and all road salt is washed away.

Yes, back in the days before he and I had spouses, we'd hit it up. Occasionally we'd still do so on random weekends, when we could, but life just gets in the way.

Bring the fam! It's not like we're a young, rowdy bunch treating these events like a frat party or something. People have brought wives, girlfriends, kids, etc. plenty of times.

We'll see. Weekends are usually packed. It isn't just as simple as bring the whole family. Kids have boy scouts/girl scouts, birthday parties, sporting events, in addition to just us catching up. Usually while one critter is at one event with the Wife, I have the other handling that critter's event.

It is with the greatest sadness that I have to say I won't be able to make it. I got scheduled to work Saturday night.

When the weather picks up for good, how about another one of those forest preserve meets?

Probably not here either.

1) Sounds like I did internal damage to the snow blower engine yesterday, chopping through another mountain of snow dumped in my yard. Guy thinks I broke the timing key on the camshaft, so I gotta take that in on Saturday.

2) Someone is coming to buy our kids swingset, so I will most likely be helping dissassemble it.

So my Saturday is pretty much booked.

Will, the reservation is for 6:30, and we'll be there for a while. Be quick with the L36 and get your butt down there! No one will car which vehicle you bring. We've had older Audi A4s, Ford Excursions, etc. It's more about hanging out with people with similar car interests. :D

Carl - Sweet! No need to bring supplies/food. The way we do these now is I just buy everything in advance, and everyone just brings $5 to chip in. Unfortunately, they don't allow alcohol there. :(
