I left it parked in the garage today. That's all. I kept it protected from dust, dirt, tree sap and that's enough for one day!

Saturday it got coolant drained and filled, 180* thermostat, new sway bar end links, trans service, air filter, tire rotation, and a bath. Still have the new fuel filter, PCV valve, LIM gaskets, Dorman UIM, and VC gaskets in the box waiting to go in. Just not enough hours in the day. Oh, and gave her a bath too but by Sunday morning there was a coating of pollen on it again. :sad:

HID kits finally showed up yesterday. Disconnected the DRL resistor a while ago so that was already done. Jumped out the daylight sensor to disable the automatic headlights, and installed the HID's in the low beams and fogs. Need to pick up a diode still to keep the lows from turning off when the highs are turned on. The HID bulbs don't last long when they get clicked on and off a lot.

I got bored so I went to Home Depot and made an intake coupler to replace the stock one which made the intake hose pretty much into a Z before the TB.

Well I WAS going to install the V brakes today, but last night on the way to a concert I caught a pothole and broke my right rear strut mount, so I just changed the strut and the mount. It made a terrible racket and it caused a shake at highway speeds.

This is what I pulled off the car.

Egads...

This weekend;
- Cleaned and adjusted the rear drums on the Suburban (This is where my frustration with NAPA came into play)
- Replaced the rears on the Caddy
- Cleaned my VVT actuators on the Northstar.

For anyone here that has a Northstar/Shortstar with VVT, take a look at this... All 4 of mine were soaked with oil (if you look closely to the terminal it came out of, you can see pooled oil).

Then these sexy bisshes;

I did my brake upgrade, what a PITA but so far it seems far better than stock. The stick on wheel weights make a terrible racket because they just barely scrape the calipers. Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet. It was dark when I got done so no finished pictures, but I got one while I was working on it.

Hi I am new here. At 60 years old I remember as a kid how much fun I had working on cars. Now maybe not so much fun. I just changed Out the plugs, wires, and a coil pack. Because the engine was. Missing. I had to lay on the engine to get my hands down on the back side of the engine. I had no plug boot puller and it was a task to change those plugs. Anyway technology hasn't beat me yet and I look forward to sharing and learning here. We were lucky and got this car with only 51,000 miles on it. I have had it for about a year and a half now and love it. I used to be a mechanic until Gm designed the Chevy Monza and you had to jack up the engine to change the spark plugs. Oh well I guess soon we will have flying cars and maybe. Just have to change out anti gravity packs once in awhile lol.

Started with Cleaning MAF Sensor. Then went to replacing the Idle Sensor. Changed the supercharger oil. Cleaned & Re-oiled my K&N Air filter. Put New Vinyl on my Driver Side windows rails. Pulled off the Wiper Arms to repaint tomorrow. Putting on new Aluminum Valve Covers Tomorrow!!! Yipee!!! :banana: :bwoohoo:

I know that's not today, but I'm on a roll here. :eek2:

Fixed sunroof drain hose with a new real hose

Image

And reinstalled the carpet, new isolation, trim and council. If you notice the isolation is not OEM Pontiac, it's out of a Buick Park Ave and all I did was cut out the hole for the shifter. The Buick is way easier to work with being three pieces verse the stock one piece.

Last night I did a front brake job. New ceramic pads and rotors. Today I filled up with 93 and pulled 14.1 mpg.

Busted my arse on it yesterday. Replaced LIM gaskets, replaced UIM, new plugs, new wires, and new rear valve cover gasket. Still need to do the front one, the fuel filter, alternator bearings, and change the oil but after 7 hours in the hot carport turning wrenches and leaning over a fender I was done.

Hit up a local pull your own parts junkyard for a purge solenoid vacuum tree and ran into an '02 Bonne SE the same colors as my '00 SLE. I pulled a bunch of stuff to replace broken/worn parts. I grabbed the upgraded center console with offset cup holders and a non cracked armrest/lid (this alone was worth the trip), dash air vent grills, rear driver's side door/window trim, a mass air flow sensor (works great), and an engine cover in better shape than mine. I also got the vacuum tree I was after (2 actually), and a full set of blue tab coil packs off of an '02 supercharged Buick. I spent about 2 hrs time looking around (Bonne was nearly the last car in the last row) and $110 for everything. Got all the parts cleaned up and onto my '00 and couldn't be happier. I think if I get time today, I'm going back to pull the trunk spoiler. My current one has a few chunks missing and was crappily painted by a previous owner. It's another $25 for that. Money well spent I say.

Well not today but yesterday I repainted my calipers and put the decals on. The red wasn't working for me so I painted them silver along with the rears.

That "V" Logo is really big.

But I agree, the silver goes better. Do they still rub a little?
