P1441 and traction off and antilock are illuminated

Post by bonniebird »

On my 98 Bonnie 3.8 about 5 weeks ago I got a P1441 that didn't clear itself so I cleared it a day later with the scanner....couple of days ago the P1441 came back..weird thing is both times is both times it came on was right at startup - one first thing in morning, the other in the midst of short trips...so I cleared it this morning but I assume its gonna come back...I have the 3 service manuals but was just wondering from your guys' experience what is it about the evap system that I should look at first.....the second thing that happened this morning right as I started it up is that the traction off and antilock stayed illuminated on the screen left of steering wheel....where should I start looking for that issue, because when it comes to the abs section in the manual its like a Chinese takeout menu..where to start troubleshooting...sounds like an electrical issue?

One very common problem with Bonnevilles is corrosion on the ground buses which lie beneath the carpeting.
Here's a post with details on that: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=30286
As for the P1441 code, I'd first look at the vacuum lines and see if they haven't cracked or collapsed .
Hope you'll let us know what you find.
