Air Ride Suspension
Sorry if this is a topic that has been discussed before , Kinda looked but didn't see what I was looking for.
Just bought a 2001 SSEI , I noticed that the rear suspension is really springy, (SOFT) how do I tell if the air rear suspension is working properly??

Re: Air Ride Suspension
The rear air ride is only to compensate for extra weight or uneven weight. It is in addition to the rest of the shock. If you are springy you might need springs or shocks. Shocks more then likely which are really easy to install yourself.

Re: Air Ride Suspension
Well everyone will tell you something different. I replaced mine with monroes shocks with moog mounts. It rides fine to me. Some people do kyb or acdelco. But I have SLE so im not sure if monroes are too soft for SSEI

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Air Ride Suspension
I did KYB's on mine w/ Moog upper mounts and they are firmer then stocks that came out. Rockauto.com and use the club code for 5% discount. they are cheap too, like $45 for the pair IIRC. i have heard mixed reviews about the Monroe ones.. softer then OEM and have gone bad. my KYBs seem do to do well. i like a sportier feel so the KYB's give me that firmer feel.

Re: Air Ride Suspension
My Monroe ones are a little stiffer, and very noisy. I wouldn't recommend them, although that might just be my experience.

Re: Air Ride Suspension
I thought the noise would be mounts? I get noise too I thought it was just mounts even though they are moog.

Re: Air Ride Suspension
I thought it was my mounts too, replaced my Moogs with newer Moogs and still the issue persists. Oh well, they're not bouncy, just noisy. So I'm gonna leave them for now for $ reasons. But when the time comes, I'll be going with the KYBs.

Re: Air Ride Suspension
Rear toe links are a source of noise too if it is a clunk that you can't seem to locate the source of. I also recommend the KYB SR1002. I did a writeup for replacing them, check it out http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 39750.html

Re: Air Ride Suspension
Could you please explain the club code and how do you enter it? All I see is where I enter my cc info.redzmonte wrote:I did KYB's on mine w/ Moog upper mounts and they are firmer then stocks that came out.
