Hey guys, last week I reluctantly traded in the Bonneville But I did pick up the 2012 Sonic I discussed in my thread in the General forum. So far I've been loving this thing! She's a lot more of a car you would expect by looking at her. Its been pretty fun to learn to drive a manual as well. Here's a couple pics of Chloe from the day I picked her up:
And a couple pics after I PlastiDipped the badges and trim around the grille, just to make her look a little meaner before I can get a nicer set of rims and tires on her
Thats all I have for now! Hoping to start modding her over the summer if time and money allows. For now I'm going to enjoy her as is!
Very nice looking! Reminds me of the last Transformers movie. - BC

I've been getting around 28-30ish with mostly city driving and some hoonage. I'm pretty sure that they were designed over in GM's Studio in Korea, but they are built in the U.S at the Orion Plant. Apparently its the only car in it's class built here.
I drove a 1.8L Sonic as a rental once, expecting the worst, and was very pleasantly surprised. It had reasonable low end grunt and the 6-speed auto kept the revs where they needed to be. I can only imagine how much better it'd be with the 1.4T and a manual.
When I was looking into getting a Sonic, the Turbo and manual were must haves for me. Its really a fun car and is surprisingly quick for such a little hatchback!
I like the little mods you've done so far... the black hides the one design feature I dont like... the bottom half of the grill. I think the small upper grill and the headlights look great but the bottom looks very awkward. (Its just chevys design cue right now) doing a great job with the little design tweaks and I look forward to seeing the rims your about to put on her
Thanks guys! I can't wait to get a nice set of rims on her. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be able to make that happen.
I agree about the bottom grille....what bothers me (and most Sonic owners) the most is the "mustache" where the front plate gets mounted. There is a guy on the Sonic forum that started making and selling grilles that get rid of the mustache and smooths out the front nicely, but he's asking $300-400 for the grilles. Just a little steep for me right now haha. Maybe some day i will make the investment, but the black hides the 'stache nicely for now.
