seat memory

Everytime I unlock and get into the car I must hit the memory button to get the chair into the memory position.when i get out and lock up the chair goes into the upright original position. Im concerned the chair motor will wear out because I have to move thechair evertime to get in..I have the number 1 remote to correlate to the number 1 memory button.I just wish i could stick the chair in one spot,i wouldnt be moving it much anyway. Any ideas and help would be much appreciated ive scoured the net and read the manual..thanks! 5

Does it happen with both remotes, or only yours? Or do you only have 1 remote? - BC

I have only one remote, the no. 1.Im wondering if this happens to everyones 2000 ssei,or they can make the drivers seat stationary.ive tried the programming..i dont think the dealers have any more knowledge than this hands on group of bonnie owners..

Which button on the door to you have to press in order to get the seat in the proper position? Whichever it is, press that button to get things how you want them, then press and hold the other button until you hear a couple of beeps. See if that solves the problem.

That is not normal operation. The memories are set for 2 drivers. Whichever key fob is programmed to either driver 1 or two, the positions associated with that driver should be where the seat and mirrors move.

Right.the thing is,when I get out and lock up with the fob,the seat goes to the "upright" original postion.then when I go to unlock the car with the fob the seat does not move.I must hit the door button to make the seat move to appointed set position,whether or not both 1 and 2 buttons are programmed the same.I hope not to beat a dead horse with this discussion but worried about wearing seat motors out.thanks a ton for your input,still taking ideas!

Side note ive done a bunch of work to my Bonneville its ship shape almost cherry so this is near the last thing on the "list"...thanks!

You never answered which button you hit to get the seat where you want it.

Sure..its the number 1 door button ive got to hit everytime I enter to move the drivers seat.I wish...I could get it to just stay put.

I may have missed something but if you hold a button down doesn't it program it? Is it possible to program the "exit" button to be the same position as the others? If so, couldn't you just do that and then when the seat decides to move, it won't be able to b/c all positions are programmed the same??

Well when I use the key fob to lock up the drivers seat stays in my driving position, but then when I go to unlock it with the fob,nothing happens.I must hit the door button to bring the seat into my driving position.I have the no. 1 key fob(no no.2 fob was included in my purchase,dont have) I have programmed both seat buttons on the door for the same driving position,tested by hitting buttons observing said action.I think my key fob when unlocking car is supposed to move seat into my driving position.its never done it since ive had it. Im wondering if everyones SSEI does this or what. Im worried about burning up the motors. Any ideas will be appreciated ive done textbook stuff to the Bonneville(LIMS,timken hubs,iridiums,MAF sensor, fluids etc etc..so I love the car but this is becoming annoying!thanks again you guys

Had same problem on my 01 SSEI, after reading this post I looked on the back of my key fob, Number 2, programmed my settings on the number 2 button on the door, All good now... Thankx
