I picked up a rain sensing unit from a 05 STS over a year ago...I've been sitting on it not sure how to install. I know its has been done by at least 1 member. That being said, I'm looking for experience/advice on in stalling it. It has only 4 wires, power and ground I can get from the map light. I think the wiper Controller is under the driver dash.
Thanks for any help,
Rain sensing

Re: Rain sensing
Two wires must be run from the module to the wiper control module which is actually under the cowl and is part of the wiper motor assembly. This being said, you're looking at running two conductors through the firewall.
There is a small wiring harness a couple of feet long that plugs into the wiper motor/control module at one end and into the main body harness at the other. This harness will have the two conductors necessary since it was also used in the Buick LeSabre which did have RainSense. The connector you must tie into is a sealed connector. It is very important to maintain the integrity of this or you will end up with wiper/washer system problems sooner or later.
You will require two Metri-Pack 150 Male Sealed terminals with wires to add to the connector housing of the main body harness.
I can post some more information later.
How are you planning to attach the sensor to the windshield? How this is done is also very important.

Re: Rain sensing
That is helpful...I need to look in to those connectors
as for sticking the sensor to the glass...what do you recommend?

Re: Rain sensing
The pads used to attach these to the glass are quite special. They have to be perfectly clear because the module emits an infrared beam through them that is bounced back from the outside layer of the windshield to a sensor in the module. I will be able to better advise you shortly. I'm about to have a new windshield installed in my car and I've ordered a different mount kit than the last time which should be much easier to work with. This is the link, but once I have it in my hands I'll be able to tell if it's what I'm expecting it to be. I believe the item required is "GGS 915 KIT".

As for the terminals, I may be able to send you a couple with 1 foot wires attached. PM me your info.
